    Aluminum slant block

He poured aluminum into the water jacket to make the deck solid in the "Twiggy build thread". He also did a similar, single piece around the tops of each cylinder in another build but it wasn't very effective. Thats when the discussion later on started by me mentioning doing the "Honda" cylinder...

Yeah, they mentioned the Fel-Pro being discontinued in the article and that they got the last 2 Olson gaskets that were available.....

I looked back at the article and it says they used Olson gaskets. They are the copper skin style....

    Aluminum slant block

That is what I suggested to the .org guys about 10 years ago. Obviously that guy lurks on some of the Slant forums ..... Also, on this block and the Chevy LS and others of this design, a torque plate will have no affect on them.

    Aluminum slant block

The article I participated in with Steve Magnate in Mopar Muscle and Hot Rod had a head gasket failure as the engine approached 200 HP. That's probably not too shabby, but if that's to be an expected issue at that HP range, how long can it live at say, 180 HP, if it's that close to a failure...

    Aluminum slant block

I also made a 3D model of a sleeve that had an interlocking deck that you could send to Darton and have made as a Plan B. But can you actually picture a Slant 6 person throwing down $150+ per sleeve and then paying to have them installed....?LOL Anyway, that just makes the block strong enough to...

I'd have search for it myself, but its been so long ago. PM me and I can tell you all about it....

    Aluminum slant block

No, this is actually a better, different approach. The blocks already have sleeves in them...The method I presented has been around for over 30 years and has allowed the sport compact guys to achieve over 1000 HP out of their early open deck Honda 4 cylinder blocks....

    Aluminum slant block

I developed a solution for the guys over on .org about 10 years ago, but they still choose to keep repeating the same process expecting a different result. I also contributed and participated in a magazine build(Muscle Mopar and Hot Rod magazines)with Steve Magnate featuring an aluminum Slant 6...

    Mystery Argentinean Head Pics!!

The link that takes you back to .org says circa 1969 for the magazine picture it was in, so who knows how much older the heads actually were prior to that, but over 50 years old at this time.

    Mystery Argentinean Head Pics!!

Being it was a prototype casting over 50 years ago, it probably was limited to just a few castings. The fact that its unrecognized by your friend likely means it didn't produce favorable results and other prototypes of other heads took the spotlight.....

    Cometic Gaskets

I've used SCE and Clark to make the large port Slant intake/exhaust gaskets for me in the past, and Clark also has the files to do copper head gaskets for the Slant as well, any bore and thickness.....

Big Block Gear Drive On A Slant?

The idler gear does appear to mesh better with the cam gear than the crank gear. Since idler is bolted to the block, I don't think you can move it closer without some major redo....

Big Block Gear Drive On A Slant?

Ok, that's good! I was just thinking that could have explained the excessive backlash you thought you had. You should be fine then...

Big Block Gear Drive On A Slant?

In a (4)gear gear drive like this originally was, one of the smaller gears is designed to transmit the load between the crank gear and cam gear, the other one is simply an idler gear as its name implies. Did you take the correct gear out of the equation...? They are different diameters and the...

Nuts would be fine if you can include them. I'm in N. Georgia, so just let me know how much for the nuts and bolts and shipping will be and I'll drop you a money order. A small padded envelope from USPS is fine for shipping. Thanks, Scott

    Cryo treating blocks?

A lot of people are very skeptical of it, but it definitely works. It may not work or benefit every single component that gets treated as much as other parts, but it does work!

    Cryo treating blocks?

Winston Cup teams have used both Metalax and Cryo processes for over 25 years now. There are several places over in NASCAR country that do both. One is/was called 300 Below if they are still around....

    Valve guide clearance

Higher end shops hone the guides to the finish size instead of reaming. A reamer doesn't put the necessary crosshatch in the guide for oil retention, otherwise, oil would just shoot on past and into the ports. Just think if you bored your cylinders with a boring bar and didn't hone them to put a...

Where is my compression and vacuum??

I agree with Charlie and others, it's like setting your timing by ear instead of using a timing light. Always verify TDC with the balancer and timing tab and always degree the cam.

Recommendation for Forged Pistons and Connecting Rods

About 7 or 8 years ago, I modeled a front mount throttle body EFI intake for the Slant. Not much interest so I made and cast one for the Chevy 6 cylinder which was hugely popular. Now all the Slant guys want EFI......and have a short memory!
