The cryptic date codes on 1970/71 383 intake manifolds are on the underside. See pictures.

I have the same problem with my 1970/71 model 383s intake manifolds. Date code 9X15 and 6-13. On my 440s and 340s intake manifolds it’s normal date codes with month day year codes. How can this be?

383 intake casting date is maybe different from 440? My 440 intakes have month day year. My 383 have date codes like 9X15 and 6-13. Why??
