    Strange Starter Problem

Not sure if this is a bit late lol but I’m in the middle of this swap now, and am finding out that depending on the years, the starter for the a904 sit about a half inch lower, so the 2 trannies do not use an identical starter... or so I’m told as I need a new starter for a ‘77, if I’m wrong...

    904-727 swap Torque converters...

So the 727 torque converters ring gear is still larger than my starter can mesh with, d’you know off hand if there a particular starter i need to switch to, to make the 318 work with the 67-79 a727? Im out in the country so just biting the freight bullets is an issue if i have to send it back...

    904-727 swap Torque converters...

I was thinking that, but it seems just as easy to get the 2$ gasket and seal it with less chance of excess rtv getting into the timing chain. Im still facepalming my blonde moment about my lack of recognition for the fuel pump ‍♂️15 years out of power mech haha I'm a bit green lol

    Thumpr cam crap

I'm looking at these thumpr cams rite now, they recommend you upgrade the springs lifters and timing chain with them, ergo you would need different sized push rods as well, so maybe the overly rough idle could be a pushrod issue, not opening long enough for its intended duration? Just a thought.

    904-727 swap Torque converters...

Nope can’t be , that is in the gas tank under the box, this is deleted from old engine, something related to the forced exhaust system. Truck never would have run if the fuel pump was deleted

    904-727 swap Torque converters...

1985 D150 SWB 904 to 727 swap, need driveshaft length!!

Yeah, I'm literally in the middle of this swap and there is an almost half inch difference in yoke diameter, i highly doubt you put a 727 yoke into a 904, they just don't fit. Nor do the driveshafts, must be shortened, about 120$ to shorten and another 120$ to balance(at least here in canada)

    904-727 swap Torque converters...

so heres the deal, i have an 88 d150, just got a replacement internally balanced 318. Also since the the old torque converter grenaded its pilot shaft the tranny was shot, so, A727 goes in. I am aware i have to get the driveshaft shortened as the 727 output end is slightly longer, but the real...

    904 to 727 swap compatability

It won’t fit at all, the 727 has a larger input/ output shaft and internals. Beefier tranny, same housing. Im in the middle of this exact swap on my 88 d150, TQ grenaded so i got a 727, driveshaft needs shortened about 3.8 inches(guestimate) needs a 727 specific 2400-2800 stall converter, and a...
