    Driveshaft question

Someone answered this elsewhere, but for forum searchers - a 318/904 Dart Swinger will need a 51.75” driveshaft if you’re switching to an 8 3/4 rear.

    Yes, special order.

    Driveshaft question

Thanks! I’m not trying to cut anything. I ordered a new rear end and am ordering a new driveshaft, and I’m trying to figure out the correct one to order.

    Driveshaft question

On a 1973 Dart Swinger Special with a 318/904 and an 8 3/4 rear, would the driveshaft length be 47.75”?

    Smallest Steering Box

It looks bolt in enough, except for pinning the Borgeson coupler to the column. I don’t have a drill press, and that’s a big issue.

    Smallest Steering Box

That helps a ton! It looks like this is it. Do I need anything else, or will this just bolt right in? I don’t know if I’ll need to still shorten the steering column as I already have power steering. Borgeson 800127: Power Steering Conversion Box 1962-82 Mopar | JEGS

    Smallest Steering Box

My concern is that the 800126 says it fits 62-72 cars. Will it still direct bolt in?

    Smallest Steering Box

I’ve got a 1973 Dart Swinger with the 318 and headers, so OEM steering box clearance is terrible. I am curious if the Borgeson or the Flaming River box makes for a better fit and install.

That’s what I figured. I’m stuck on Dana but will probably just go straight to Moser.

I’ll definitely go with the lighter 70’s one then. I am mostly am just concerned about being able to drop off my current rear axle, put this on, throw on tires. I’m a super newbie to this, and I just want to replace my nearly blown 7.25 as easily as possible on a budget.

I’m mostly concerned about tube width and general fit.

I found someone selling 2 Dana 60 rear ends, one from a 70’s Ford F350 and the other from a 90’s Ram 2500-3500. Which should I pick up, and how easy will it be to convert from my 7.25 rear end?

    Cylinder Head Choice

Hi everyone! This has all been a ton of help! Mike and I had a long talk yesterday and I learned a lot. It’s pretty easy to get overwhelmed with all the options, but we’re going through exactly what fits for a more realistic build - back to front. This way I can get the right things in the...

    Cylinder Head Choice

Thank you! I really want to learn this engine, this car, etc. For what it’s worth, a spinal injury put me out of being able to drive for a long time. My mom (who doesn’t understand anything about cars) loaned my first car out while I was at college to someone who wrecked it. I admit that I...

I think nitrous would be cheating for what I’m trying to do. At this point I’m down to go the impractical, expensive route and naturally aspirate!

That’s just it, drove a stock Hellcat and FELL IN LOVE with how it drove! The response, the power, everything! I finally am in a place where I have the time and monetary resources to learn (albeit lacking space and knowledge) and would love to pack somewhere in the ballpark of that power range...

    Cylinder Head Choice

I am a total newbie when it comes to working on cars, probably to the point where I didn’t know what to ask - but a parts list is absolutely what I am looking for. My understanding is that there’s a lot of compatibility issues and to ask questions, and after watching a lot of YouTube channels...

    Cylinder Head Choice

I definitely didn’t want to start with the wrong cam, since that seems like it would have a poor effect on everything else! The game plan is definitely to start with a parts list of compatible items, install in chunks and work from there. I already got a Cold Case radiator, and I figured when...

    Cylinder Head Choice

The goal/challenge is definitely to do it with the 318! I have seen it done, and I know by the end the car will be fairly useless on the street. Would there be a specific cam you would suggest I start with?

    Cylinder Head Choice

I appreciate the help here! I don’t know what a good converter is, but my budget is around $1000 at the top end for a converter. I don’t mind putting $5-8k into the car over a period of a year or two if it means doing it right. I haven’t even put the cam into the car, or even taken it out of...

    Cylinder Head Choice

These are perfect and right in my budget, especially considering the aforementioned Black Friday sale. I’m slightly confused about the gear ratios and the torque converter. Would I need to buy a new rear end before getting the converter? Is that the only way to change gear ratio to 4.11...

I actually watch your channel a lot, but didn’t want to say anything! It’s been a definite help in understanding a lot of basics. I would imagine a rear end swap is in my future, but I would need to find a new one first. I don’t mind spending $600+ on a new converter if that’s going to mean a...
