1967 Dodge Dart GT daily driver build

I cut out most of the old Dutchman panel. Now I have more room to work on the welded pieces attached to the left and right quarters. You can see in the photo the hack job they did to where the rear package tray attaches to the Dutchman panel. Luckly most of this car has proved to be very...

1967 Dodge Dart GT daily driver build

I did a little more work on the Dart recently. Seeing that I had this rust damage in the trunk that I was repairing, I knew water was leaking in from somewhere… most likely the rear window. I was also suspecting that the Dutchman panel had been replaced by a previous owner long ago. So I...

    It has been a tuff

I lost my father a few months ago. It was hard, but it was harder watching him suffer with dementia and everything before he passed. At least now he’s not suffering. Remember the happy memories and the love and light they brought to your life. We are truly lucky to have had people like that...

1967 Dodge Dart GT daily driver build

This is one example of the pin holes that I punched, cleaned up with a file, plug welded and ground down. Pretty happy with the results considering I’m still teaching myself how to do all this.

1967 Dodge Dart GT daily driver build

Hey FABO. It’s been a while since I did an update. Progress on the ‘67 GT has been going really slow due to having another surgery and more medical issues. Luckily I’ve made more progress in that area than on the Dart! I’ve finished patching the trunk area. Just need to plug weld a few...

    1972 Dart Rear Filler Panel

Thank you. Glad it was a solid product. This will help on my project. I just wish they (or anyone) made the lower window channel corners too. That’s going to be a pain.

    1972 Dart Rear Filler Panel

Rusty, yes sir, that’s the Dutchman panel. That’s what I’ve heard it called mostly amongst car guys. But looking online I see it listed as a “deck filler panel” by retailers, in case anyone is searching for one FYI.

    1972 Dart Rear Filler Panel

Hey, I know this was posted earlier this year, but did you end up replacing the deck filler panel?

Thank you. That’s a huge help!

Photo of roof/sail panel support frame ‘67 Dart coupe

My Car: 1967 Dart GT coupe Does anyone have a photo of the roof frame/support behind the sail panel? Specifically the lower 1/2 of it. I’m referring to the pillar area between the rear quarter window and the windshield. Previous owner did some cutting on mine in an unfinished repair. I’m...

Huh. That’s strange. PM me your email and I’ll sent you the largest one I have.

Here is the clear IBM Card copy. Sorry it took me so long. Came down with Covid for a while it was all I could do to get out of bed. Anyway, I hope this helps.

I found it on an old post here on FABO. I’ll get on my laptop later where I have it, and post the image here for you so you can download it.

Just FYI, the copy that I got (first pic) was very blurry and difficult to read since it’s from the microfiche. Using a clean, blank card as an overlay I was able to clean it up significantly in photoshop. Now at least it’s readable (pic 2).

I actually emailed the form for mine on March 10th, about an hour before I found this thread and first posted. So you probably submitted yours first, I assume.

@Dana67Dart did you get your build (IBM) card yet? If so, any idea on how to go about decoding it? I got mine today and the quality isn’t great, but I should be able to understand it enough to transcribe it to clean card.

1967 Dodge Dart GT daily driver build

Hey Sean. I was in the Army, 13 years total active and reserve. Was planning on doing 20, but got wounded by an RPG during an ambush on one of my tours. Still, no regrets. Welding: if I can figure it out, anyone here can. I think it’s 1/2 knowing the process and 1/2 the art of doing it...

1967 Dodge Dart GT daily driver build

Quick update on the trunk. You can see the original rust damage, the area I cut to patch, and the weld job. This was my FIRST attempt at welding. I know a lap weld would have been easier, but I wanted to try to patch it with a butt weld. Over all I’m pretty happy with the result, and I...

1967 Dodge Dart GT daily driver build

Hey FABO. I haven’t gotten as much done as I’d like on the project. I’ve been busy knocking out online college classes (before my GI Bill expires) and dealing with a new baby girl (born in March). I did get my 8 3/4 suregrip rearend. It’s just sitting here in the garage waiting for me to...

    1967 Dodge Dart 270

Well, please let me know how it works out for you. That’s almost 1/4th the cost I was looking at to redo the old unit. Like you (I’m guessing) I’m a working man on a budget, I appreciate saving a few bucks where I can. It means more can get done somewhere else on the project.

    1967 Dodge Dart 270

Great to see you driving the Dart. Rolling projects are a lot more fun. What brand sending unit did you go with? I’ve heard bad things about the “repro” sending units, and am considering just having my original reconditioned. It’s a lot more expensive however….

    [Found!] Trunk sheet metal

Hey FABO. I’m repairing the rust damage in the trunk of my ‘67 Dart. Need to replace the areas in the photos. 1: the recessed area just forward of the spare tire well. 2: the recessed area just to the right of the spare tire well, and left of the bumper jack mount. This is a daily driver, so...

    1967 Dodge Dart 270

When I got my ‘67 the prior owner converted, poorly, to 4 barrel. The throttle and kickdown linkage was all jacked up. I just went with Lokar cables, but it’s great if you can fabricate and modify what you have to work.

    1967 Dodge Dart 270

Pay special attention to this recessed area here. It’s part of the “lower rear seat pan” the trunk attaches to and is only available as the whole $500 pan. Once I took a wire wheel to mine I found it was Swiss cheese. It’s almost like Ma Mopar designed it to hold water on purpose!

1967 Dart trunk area floor pan question

Moparmat2000, thank you for sharing your experience with me on this. I’m a rookie at this stuff, but I’m very handy and motivated to learn. That’s basically been the whole theme of my Dart project. I think I understand what you did. You don’t by chance have a picture of your end result do...

1967 Dart trunk area floor pan question

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I’ll have to try to patch it. I’m not going to replace everything there since everything else is perfectly solid. I’ll cut out the bad sheet metal this weekend, see what I have to work this. Then I’ll try to fabricate some patches out of spare sheet metal I have.
