It's a custom in-house formulation of two colors actually, with a clear topcoat.

Seeking advice on applying clear powder coat

That one was formulated for aluminum but they have a couple others that might work too. I don't do much on brass.

Seeking advice on applying clear powder coat

I'd use a clear ceramic instead of powder. Check out MC5100 for polished metals. Cerakote.com

    Shipping LCA's via USPS

I see some great and some seriously lame packing efforts at my shop. Most shipping damage happens when parts are shoved into a too-small box to save a couple bucks. Avoiding the "three inches of collapsible material on all sides of the item being shipped" will cancel out any insurance you might...

Paint on rear window chrome pieces, '65 Barracuda

 "... it's only a five color job," possibly on (58 year old) pot metal. Any powder rookie should be jumping all over that.

    MIA

Yayyyy glad to hear it Cal! I saved this one from Veterans Day 2012, and the one of your son crouching near the Firebird. You FABO guys are beyond memorable. You're FAMILY!

    MIA

I'm still getting spam from @clhyer. Hey @RustyRatRod, did you ever try to call him? I haven't; his number is in the shop and I only FABO in the house. The two are usually disconnected.

    k-frame strengthening

Great point on the heat factor @J-c-c! Not being a certified welder, your input is excellent. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and teaching me something I didn't know.

Those two comments above both depict why it's important to hire experienced people who stand behind their work.

I sent a link to this thread to the pirate crew. How cool is this??? Ten bucks in booty for telling them how awesome they are!?!

Not that I know of, but I've never read the fine print ... because there really isn't any to read. Just surf their website for a few minutes and take a tour of the ship. I don't think it even has a gangplank. :steering: All I know is that they've saved my guys an awful lot of money already and...

Magazine cars. How many on the forum?

Count me in. I didn't get the cover of the May 2011 issue of Auto Enthusiast but had a couple pics and an article. Most people who read it thought Billy built my car but I'd already owned it for 12 years when we met.

    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

Keep in mind any ceramic coating applied by the manufacturer or an independent shop has a warranty. That warranty is AUTOMATICALLY VOIDED by applying header wrap.

    Aluminum intake install - 340

It's also a good time to mock it up with your valve covers installed, especially if they're aftermarket. It's not common these days but sometimes the inner gasket rails need to be notched a bit so they'll sit flush on the heads. These fit a SBC but the principle is the same.

A couple screenshots from PirateShip.com's latest email show a few pricing adjustments on USPS shipments. Surprisingly, some are going DOWN.

SMS Auto not responding and now closed

After seeing this ... ... and having none of the menu options operable, I'd be contacting this place before too much time passes. Most District Attorneys offices have internet fraud divisions.

Where Are All The Pre 2010 Members

Jack, I have t-shirts older than he is but will still toss out a big Dating Game Kiss for that! I'll just stick with one of my dad's sayings: I'm old enough to know better but still too young to resist.

January 17, 2005. Wow, a long time! Here's to 18 years of friends, fellowship, knowledge, deals and keeping our beloved babies on the road for future generations to enjoy!! One of the participants from one of my Young Guns Contests got in touch on the shop's Facebook page the other day. He's...

With UPS shipments, you can just hand them off to any driver. An intake just arrived and I handed him an air cleaner. Didn't have to even leave the shop. FedEx will not permit that. It sounds like it's working out as well for you as it has for me. Happy to hear it!!

Maybe a couple decades working for law firms helped. Your blatantly hostile honesty can sometimes bring positive results when adverse things happen, but good documentation and and a lot of tact work for me. Here's what I said about shipping a manifold recently, and my own claim filing horror...

I appreciate your loyalty @mosleyme and the kind compliments @yotah1! If your customers ever need something special, consider opening a PirateShip.com account. It will save up to 89% over counter prices at UPS and the USPS, and has already saved mine over $400 in just a few months. Today I...

    Custom Powder Coating

A few teasers of the latest, a large 7-color spread so involved I'm going to call it Ben Hur! Balancing variances in steel and aluminum parts in the quest for uniformity can be a challenge on certain colors. Only the white and black wrinkle weren't candy translucent with metal flake. I'm tickled...
