I have a set of 40 over pistons for a 340. New in the box got them for my engine and have to go sixty over to clean up the cylinders. So need to order different pistons. These are kb 243.40 hyper pistons with a plus six flat top and valve reliefs. Includes new mahle rings. 400 plus shipping.

The easiest I think is to pull the drive shaft, shifter, clutch linkage and cross member. Pull the engine and tranny together. If you’re working by yourself it would be harder to get everything lined back up for the engine and transmission to go back together. Especially working on the ground...

You have to put the governor in a lathe and machine it down. I remember that, did one twenty years ago. Right under the valve you circled shows how to modify it. If your machine shop won’t do it. Find a gun smith they can take that down pretty easily

Could clean up valve body also before a full rebuild. If it’s not the governor and it’s not the valves, you have some leaky seals in the trans. But I would start with the tail shaft
