300 HP out of a 318, is it possible with bolt ons?

Sadly enough, I'm at 6500 ft of elevation, yikes! Driving down to New Mexico is a noticable difference in power, dropping to around 2000 ft of elevation. For now, a 2800 stall will be the only hope for scavenging hp.

300 HP out of a 318, is it possible with bolt ons?

This makes an alarming amount of sense!!! I tried compensating with the lack of low end tq by throwing some 3.55 gears in with a shift kit in a 904. Unfortunately, I can't find anyone who sells a sure grip for a 7.25 rear, and don't really want to find a 8.75 before this one blows! I know this...

300 HP out of a 318, is it possible with bolt ons?

Definetely not a bolt on, but given the ease of installation and the cam already installed, I had to throw it up there :) (Plus I know 300 crank hp isn't possible without one considering stock internals)

300 HP out of a 318, is it possible with bolt ons?

One day I'll take the time to port the heads, find some hypereutectics, steeper cam, all the goodies!!! Thanks for everyone's responses, for now I'll continue to shoot for 270-300 HP at the crank

300 HP out of a 318, is it possible with bolt ons?

Hey everyone, was wondering if a 300 crank HP 318 build was do-able with bolt ons- and what else might I need to reach that?? 318 build list: - eddy 4 barrel intake & 600 cfm carb with 1 inch spacer - Mild cam (Hughes whiplash) - Hedman long tube headers, duals running to flowmaster super 10s -...

    Stock internal 318 redline??

I have no clue. I've had it pinned at a buck 20 and the car was climbing past 5000 with a bit of room to spare. Just from tone alone I think the motor has held 5200 rpm during burnout at 3/4 throttle. In some other chat threads I've seen some smarter people than myself calculate the absolute MAX...

    Stock internal 318 redline??

It does have stock heads, and I do plan on putting a set of trick flow heads on as well as some kb pistons at some point if budget allows... I appreciate everyone's responses and wiill set the shift point at 5000 until I can do a full rebuild! :thankyou:

    Stock internal 318 redline??

I've got a 74' Duster with the original 318 that's had the top end replaced with mostly eddy performance parts, (alum. 4 bar intake w/600 cfm carb) along with hedman shorty headers and most importantly, an aftermarket cam *unknown lift/duration, I assume similar specs to a 340/360 cam* Other...
