8 3/4 spitting gear oil out of breather vent

I just checked to see if I remembered to put teflon tape on the threads. I did not. I applied teflon tape to the threads and thought that would solve the issue. I took it for another drive and still have gear oil spraying out. As Junkyard Hero has asked the question of the rear end being over...

8 3/4 spitting gear oil out of breather vent

I do not recall. Which probably means no. do you think is blowing out the threads?

8 3/4 spitting gear oil out of breather vent

I spoke with Quick Performance and their guy said the breather vent was probably bad. It's a new vent from DR Diff. The vent cap is floppy loose, not like the one on another 8.75 rear end I have. could that be the cause?

8 3/4 spitting gear oil out of breather vent

yes. it was on 4 equal height blocks so the car was at ride height except 10 inches higher

8 3/4 spitting gear oil out of breather vent

I consider it a lot when it is spraying the top of the shock and running down the housing and creating a puddle on the floor.

8 3/4 spitting gear oil out of breather vent

I have just taken my Dart out for another test drive to break in the new rear end after swapping the 7.25 rear end for an 8.75 rear end. Everything is new, including the breather vent, except for the housing of course. Not sure what year A body the housing came from, but it had a vent on it when...

[WANTED] A body 8.75 housing wanted.

Thanks #Mad Max. It looks good but not what I am looking for. I have a small block in my Dart and 3.91 is a little deep of a gear. I really just need a housing. And Ohio is a bit of a drive from Minnesota.

[WANTED] A body 8.75 housing wanted.

When I was at the Stillwater Mopars in the Park swap meet in June I saw several individuals that had A body 8.75 housings for sale. It turns out the one I bought, although marked as A Body, is actually for a 67-72 B body. My bad for not bringing a tape measure. I am hoping one of those...

1973 Dart Swinger Drum to disc

That tracks with what I had in my Dart Sport. It was a 340 car. The Swinger I have now was a slant six car and has manual drum brakes with SBP

1973 Dart Swinger Drum to disc

Thanks. I had a 73 Dart Sport that had front discs and I had 14” mags on it. Just don’t remember if it was SBP or LBP

1973 Dart Swinger Drum to disc

Has anybody used the 10.95 Stage 1 front brake kit from Doctor Diff? I want to know if I can stay with 14 inch wheels using this kit. I found out CPP kit would require going to 15 inch wheels. I' rather not do that.

An accurate 8 3/4" rear axle width list

I want to thank everyone for their input. I was able to pick up some BBP 10 x 2.5 backing plates, drums and shoes that are like new, and the shock plates for my 8.75 housing at Mopars in the Park over the weekend.

An accurate 8 3/4" rear axle width list

I just picked up an 8.75 LBP housing and axles for my 73 Dart swinger at Mopars in the Park. It did not come with backing plates and I am thinking the original 7.25 shock mounting plates will have to be swapped out also. I haven't checked axle tube diameters. I'd like to run 10 inch rear...

1973 Dart Swinger Drum to disc

Thank you all for your input. It sounds like there are a lot of different opinions and options. I had a 73 Dart Sport 340 many years ago. I don't know what T bars it had, probably .87s. The previous owner had tightened the T bars to give the car a more aggressive stance and it handled amazing...

1973 Dart Swinger Drum to disc

Mostly this will be a street cruiser, but there are a lot of winding streets in my neighborhood. I have looked at 103 bars but am concerned the ride will be too stiff even with high end shocks such as QA1 or KYI.

1973 Dart Swinger Drum to disc

Thank you all for the information on swapping to disc brakes. I checked out the Dr Diff website and also CPP website. I don't know about Dr Diff but CPP has a complete B body kit including booster, MC and upper control arms that looks promising. I suspected the BC was different and prefer the...

1973 Dart Swinger Drum to disc

I'm new to FABO site so I hope this is the right place for this post. I recently picked up a 73 Dart Swinger with front drums. The car was a 6 cylinder that has a 5.9L swapped in. I want to swap to disc in front. From what I was able to gather in my research Mopar used the same rotors, calipers...

    new to site

Just picked up a sweet 73 Dart Swinger. Been about 50 years since I owned my last A body. Finding out parts are scarce for these gems in my area. If FABO is anything like FBBO and FCBO, I am looking forward to getting to know other Mopar enthusiast.
