Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Thank you for the message. Ya, I agree 100% with you. Crazy to me that an engine builder would install it on the wrong way, to fit a temporary shipping crate, so that it would later have to be switched around….possibly requiring a new gasket….and I’m assuming dumping a bunch of oil out of it, in...

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Ok. Thanks a lot. I will tell him that! He said that I can do it when I do the first oil change, but another person on here was saying that he doesn’t think the exhaust will even be able to be hooked up in the location it’s currently in

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Wow. Really? I’ll post a pic of the kind that the engine builder sold me. See if it’s proper. I’m sure it will say zinc on it, if it’s the right one then. Thanks!

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Ya. He still says that it can’t be turned without hitting. But I think the whole assembly needs to be taken off and turned or something. He says it’s out of the way of the steering now, but it looks weird to me, facing the front of the car. Hopefully it’s ok to run it like that until I can...

Ya, I wondered that as well. I’m not exactly sure how they work. Thanks!

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

That’s what I said the the builder. But he says that bellhousing sticks out to same level as filter. I’ll keep everyone posted. He just said that he turned it and it’s clearing the steering now. Says he doesn’t think its my original part (90 degree adapter, I’m assuming he means). But I don’t...

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

The builder is saying that he thinks engine builder didn’t reuse the same part as was on it when I pulled the engine. I’m not sure from pictures. It’s hard, when I don’t understand what it’s supposed to look like. He says that if he turns it to face then rear, the bell housing is in the way

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

It looks like when I pulled the engine, it was correct and after the engine rebuild, the filter is turned the complete wrong way

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

New question for you guys! I talked to the builder yesterday. He says that while steering the car, the steering hits the oil filter. He says that he needs to sort out why that is. Any ideas?? He didn’t sound too overly concerned. Just said that he had to sort it out. I know he had parts from 2...

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Great looking project there! My booster. Had a Plymouth decal on it, so it’s definitely a factory built part

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Ya. I’m learning that things were done a lot differently back when these cars were built. Lol. Even when I was looking over the build part way through and pointing out a few little defects that I wanted addressed. The builder said that these cars were never built perfectly from the factory. Then...

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Ahhh. Good to know! Maybe I should have left it off the build, to keep it original then. If that’s the case. Looks like if might be, since the code for brake booster isn’t on the fender tag
