Original Super Stock HEMI Barracuda BO29

I'm aware that this thread is centered around the original Hemi Cudas, but someone early in the thread asked about the original Hemi Darts. (I believe "Cawley"). Anyhow I thought I'd include this one that I found at a car show in Cleveland a couple of years ago. Conversation with the owner...

    Maybe Converter ?

Thank you for the quick response and advice. Your description sounds like a match and was the only logical conclusion I could come to. Unfortunately the reciept for the converter shows its purchase was years ago. It's been in the box waiting for me to find the time and money to get to this point...

    Maybe Converter ?

I recently completed a 360,727,8 3/4 transplant into a 79 Dodge Aspen RT and have found something unusual I've not seen or heard before. The engine started up fine and seems terrific. Soon I began to notice a buzz / Metallic noise I've never heard from inside an engine before after 45 years in...

    Oil additive ?

Thank you everyone again for all the usefull advice. Had it running this afternoon on "Break in Oil" with no additive. Other than a couple of coolant hose weeps , all went well. Sounds great and the leaks are minor so I can deal with them soon.

    Oil additive ?

Completed my 360 build and installation. Purchased several quarts of Lucas "Break in Oil ". Also have a bottle of "Break in Additive ". For first start up is there any such thing as " too much"? The operative chemical I believe is Zinc, but how much is too much ?

    360 Oil Filters?

You're correct, the end of the filter is way too close to the header tube. The Napa filters I purchased are a few inches shorter and I believe will solve the issue. Thanks again to everyone for all the valuable thoughts.

    360 Oil Filters?

The clearance issue is between the block and the headers. The Mopar filter is 3.66"in diameter and won't make it. Solved the problem with a Napa Gold #1348 per a previous poster. Thank you all for the help and advice.

    360 Oil Filters?

F bodies don't have that cut out area. So I don't think so.

    360 Oil Filters?

I've heard all the facts about them and as stated I agree with most. The engine hasn't been started , and as soon as we get through the initial warm up and camshaft seating it will get changed. Likely with the Napa Gold you guys described.

    360 Oil Filters?

No , these are Flow Tech from Holley. Looking around a little I'm not sure the hoses to the filter base will clear these headers .

    360 Oil Filters?

First off thankyou to all of you for your responses and advice. The first reply mentioned a Fram #PH3600. I have a Wallmart close,so the $4.00 seemed like a safe gamble. I'm not really a fan of Fram, but this fits and gives me a good place to start. Will replace soon ! I like the remote filter...

    360 Oil Filters?

Remember that scenario working for a Dodge dealer in the 70's, Ah the good ole days ! Bad news is the " F Body "has no space there either.

    360 Oil Filters?

Oops !! I meant filter diameter is 3.66, sorry ! Shorter still won't help.

    360 Oil Filters?

The headers are Flow Tech from Holley , part #13100. The oil filter is Mopar # MO-090 from Summit. The oil filter is 3.33" in diameter and won't go in. Shorter won't help since the diameter is the issue. Thankyou for any advice !!!

    360 Oil Filters?

I recently took my 360 off my engine stand and installed it in a 1979 Aspen RT. The information sheet for the new headers said to remove the oil filter for additional clearance during installation. Didn't seem complicated until I tried to put a filter back on. The Mopar filter with its 3 1/2"...

    Super Tricks at the track

Lots of great information here guys. One concern I have came from Subcom in the original post referring to leaks between the halves. As I recall from the 70's the original Crager Super Tricks required tubes inside.I was told never use tubeless tires on a "Race Car".

    Super Tricks at the track

Best looking wheel ever produced. Attention Vintage Pro stockers. Just don't brush a curb or hit a hole with one. There are reasons they were "competition only" identified in the 70 's. American Racing Outlaws will give you the same look with a little better durability.

    Converter stuck in cranksaft!

Knee jerk reaction on my part says you probably don't have the convertor all the way in the transmission. I got concerned when you said you can't pull the convertor forward after the transmission is bolted in because it's already jammed. Make sure to rotate the convertor while wiggling and...

    Clutch release problem

Sounds like you're being a little quick engaging gears while at rest and not giving the transmission gear train time to stop. Reverse especially common noise when engaging too quickly since it's not synchronized.

    360 CI mtor mounts.

Looking at Professor Fates photos, I bought the same mounts. (Saw the boxes in the picture). Similar results, but I believe that they finally fit with the correct combination of spacers. Sounds like these are becoming fairly common issues.

    360 CI mtor mounts.

Went back this morning and remeasured everything comparing the old 318, the new 360, and the front subframe. All seem to be alike. Seems okay ! Thankyou for all the helpful input. Here we go !!!.

    360 CI mtor mounts.

Actually, the pictures are of both right and left. Both needed spacers to secure , but different distances. You're correct about the 318 coming out and 360 going in. I intend to redo some measurements tomorrow and will check back if there wrong. Thanks !!

    360 CI mtor mounts.

Measured the dimensions and center lines on the 318 that came out and all seems okay. Guess we'll see soon. Thanks !!!

    360 CI mtor mounts.

Not long ago I saw a thread here referring to A and LA block engines. I can't seem to find it now , but it referred to the motor mounts available haven't fit correctly in "30 Years" and require shims to make them fit. Is this correct where I landed ?
