i have it adjusted now to open the throttle all the way, not just the primaries. I had to re-work my cable bracket, but i think it will work. Would still like to pick up a new one as this cable has a bit of a kink in it

there was definately room for improvement. I have it adjusted pretty good no. Can't believe that was the problem. Just took it for a spin and it works so much better. Thanks everyone for your help.

the throttle cable IS from the slant, but the primaries are opening all the way when the pedal is down...you will have to excuse me if I sound like I have no idea what i am talking about, because I really don't. lol

I have a clear filter before the carb and the gas looks clean enough, no debris that i can see. A new tank was put in just before I bought the car, probably about 4 years ago. Sitting in park or neutral, the engine will rev up fine, in gear and moving, 3500 seems to be the best she has.

the car doesn't feel like its missing. I'm not sure of the fuel pressure at the carb, and i didn't degree the cam. I suppose that could be my issue...

My 318 is brand new, using the summit electronic ignition kit (orange box) and a blaster coil. The car starts and idles good, but seems to have no power and will not rev over 3500rpm. I tried swapping out the ign box with another aftermarket standard box, with no change. I am running a 670...

I just bought the abody x pipe and violator mufflers. The mufflers work well, but the x pipe was a disaster. Not one piece of it lined up right. I ended up not using it at all.

it seems to. Still not where it should be maybe, but this was my first attempt at tuning a carb as well, so there probably is room for improvement. The engine is brand new too, so the more use it gets the better it will.

I have a set of 20 inch dodge ram rims off my 2006 1500 Sport. I have them listed on kijiji here in NB, and havn't had much luck. The chrome is excellent on them, but the lip of the rim is starting to corrode a bit on all four wheels. The rubber on them isn't much good, but I am selling them...

So i reset the timing on the car, base@17 as suggested, and unplugged the vacuum advance, and the advance fell at 35, which is right around where it should be. At idle with the vacuum plugged in, it runs 17. I took it up the road and it is certainly running better. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks folks, the timing was done with the vacuum connected. i will try again next time i am out with it unplugged and see where it falls. i will do a little more research and find out how to adjust the distributor

the vacuum advance is plugged into the vacuum port on the carb, the one next to the choke, not either of the two near the base, they are plugged. How do i limit the distributor?with the spring?

My timing is out of whack as well for sure. At 10 base, i have 50 advanced. I bought the summit dizzy with the ecu as a kit and am trying to see now if i can adjust the dizzy at all. Setting my base at 0 puts my advance around 38. I realize this is also a problem, just the jet question popped up...

I have a mildly worked 318 with a holley 670. The engine is very lazy and I am wondering if it could be a jetting issue. Anybody know what jets I should be running? I believe the jets in it now are 68 front and 69 rear. Thanks

its terrible for small engines. Anything that doesn't run very often...chainsaw, lawn mower, weed whacker. The ethanol will seperate from the gas if it sits for extended periods of time. Also, it is tough on rubber as mentioned, and not the greatest for bare aluminum as i understand.
