The PowerFlite 2spd tranny in my 55 Dodge is capable of being push started. In the manual it says to get the car up to 25-30mph in neutral -turn the ignition -ON- then put the car into 1st gear. I've never done it though.

As far as I know MoPar never made an 8 &3/4 "posi". It should be a "SureGrip". Posi was a term near and dear to the GM crowd. Another way to identify an 8 & 3/4 rear is its shape - round, 1 piece, the carrier is bolted in from the front, it does not have a removable gear cover.
