    trans temp sensor

The fluid comes out of the fitting that is near the front of the trans nad goes back into the rear fitting. You can put it where you want, but myself, I would like to know what the temp is in the pan that the trans is going to use.

    Quick question on trans sheild!

If your asking is it necessary to have the shield to drive it, no. As far as a shim, it isn't very thick so it won't hurt it to run it without it. I left mine off so it would help with cooling a little. Hope that helps.

    4 speed or torqueflite??

I would leave it in, but take it back to whoever did the work and then fix it to stop coming out of gear. The hydraulic leak would be easier and cheaper to fix than the swap.
