    The 340 club

Hi All, Yeah, if the header question is mine, the Doug's fit good but only after changing to a Denso mini-starter and modifying the clutch z-bar. Had to cut the inboard arm off and re-weld about 1/4 inch closer to bell housing to clear the innermost header tube. Also had to cut the tabs off...

Got my Dart !!!!! Take a look!!!

HOLY COW!! I must be gettin' old. I already replied to this thread.... Sorry! 10k is a bargain. I'm nearly 3 times that into my 69. Once you get started, well...we all know what happens. Only did it because it was an original car with the drive train still intact. Thank God the big...

Got my Dart !!!!! Take a look!!!

Wow, terrific find! Welcome to the Dart World. 10 is a steal for that car. I have more than twice that into my (first and only so far) 69 Swinger rebuild. Good luck with your 67, you're off to a great start.

    dougs headers

Thanks Crackedback! One last thing, not meaning to hijack the thread but have you had starter issues using Doug's on you 340's? Can you provide starter manufacturers and part numbers that will work with Doug's for 340 4 spd application? Thanks for all the help!

    dougs headers

Thanks very much of the info. It's certainly not a points car just a real nice driver. When you mod the z bar did it affect the geometry? Was the clutch any differrent or harder to operate? Thx.

    dougs headers

Starter for sure. I bought mine when I started my project in late 2006. Body guy took way longer than planned so I just got to putting them in early this spring. I'm mentioning this in case Doug's literature has changed. But, the instructions I got with mine specifically state that when...

    dougs headers

Regarding bottom clearance. Go to my gallery, 69 swinger coming out of the barn onto the street, and check the shot showing the headers hanging down. Different car, and even though it's on stands you can see how low the collectors look in relationship to the pan. Hope this gives you some idea.

    dougs headers

I purchased a set of D453's for my 69 340 4 speed car. They don't work with the 4 speed as the bell housing side of the z-bar is impeded by one of the header tubes. Can't get the clutch hooked up without some modification. I can say that Doug's sent special reference to the 727 tranny saying...

    any harley-davidson guys here?

tom340: you hit the nail on the head man! Nice pics too. Looking forward to my next long distance jaunt. I'm thinking Nachez Trace this season. Did The Tail in '06 along with Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge. Been to Bike Weeks at Myrtle Beach, Daytona, Sturgis, Ocean City, Laconia, tired...

    any harley-davidson guys here?

In my opinion, the only thing that comes close to a screamin' small block mopar is cruisin' on my Harley. Did a 9650.5 mile cross-country trip last summer with my son and a cousin that included 26 states and 1 Canadian province. Left my home in CT on 5/10, pulled back in the driveway on 6/14...
