Who else USED TO wrench outside?

Pulled many engines off of tree limbs. Switched transmissions in parking lots. Layed on my back in snow at 3am to switch converters. It was crazy, but I was young and tough. Loved every minute of it. Now the car sits tell I feel like fixing it. And that's with a heated garage. Back then it was...

    A Holley-Edelbrock debate

Carbs I have had on my 340 are. 750 dp, 750 vs, eddy 750 and holley 600 vs. The best for 1/4 was 750dp. The best for mileage and drivability was the holley 600. The 600 was also second fastest. Less than a 10th slower.

Why so many gloom and doomers on this site

Every time I watch the news I get in a mood. So I quit watching it. Life will go on and we will deal with it.

10 Things Muscle Car Owners Will Never Tell You

Love going to the track and beating the new cars. They sure look surprised when the old dart puts it on them. Mostly because they can't drive. Oh. And this guy is a douch.

    Guess I'm older than dirt

I can feather the throttle to keep my engine running when cold. And shift a standard. It’s not their fault. It’s what they grew up with. I don’t like it, but it’s just a different world now. I can barely run the tv remote.

Silliest Thing You Ever Put On Your Mopar ?

The good old days when you filled out an order form and sent a check or money order. Then in a month you got your stuff. I did a lot of C.O.D. orders to. Times have sure changed.

So how far back does your Mopar experience go?

When I was 13 in 1976 my friend in high school had a 69 Torino gt 390 4 speed. I thought it was the sh-t. Then a skinny hippie moved in across the street and he had a 70 roadrunner 383, auto. My friend was talking crap on the roadrunner and they decided to race. The roadrunner spanked him hard...

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

Looks to me like the valve is just slightly spinning back and forth. Makes a butterfly pattern. Don't know how good or bad this is.

Which Mopar engines breathe well enough to make use of 7000+ RPM?

Stock for stock never seen a 302 beat a 340. My 383 road runner beat my friend 68z easily. My 340 see's 7000+ all the time. Stock bottom end with forged pistons.

Do you have a group of car friends you wrench with?

I have three friends I wrench with and race with. Two are mopar guys and one ford guy that I've been building engines for and teaching him what I can. We do some shows together and bs cessions. We are building a Cleveland now. That engine has a lot of potential even if it is a ford.

What's your plans or goals for 2020 with your ride??

    Graveyard Cars - 71 Demon

I like GYC its the only mopar show I get. Motortrend sucks I cant stand most of the shows. I could give a chit less about putting 20s on a 78 suburban with a ls swap and fancy paint. That's what most the shows are about.

how do you feel about electric performance cars?

Just the idea of it being forced on us is enough I'll never own one. The companies building these things could give a **** less about the climate. It's all about the money.

So little respect for people's stuff....

It's parenting. The scum bags living off of us set their lazy asses on the couch and let the swimming pool or cell phones do the parenting. They have no idea where their kids are most the day. And the more kids the better the pay.

383 rebuild - kinda whimpy on the dyno?

Tear down and a new set of rings. My machinist honed it out for .003 clearance and luckily it cleaned up the walls. I was young and didn't tell him my intentions for the motor so he set them on the close side. which is apparently to close for any build. Yes it sucked. car was down for a couple...

383 rebuild - kinda whimpy on the dyno?

You have something wrong somewhere. 0015 is a little tight but would not cause what I see. I've ran as tight as .001 on stock cranks and never had a bearing problem, but had some easy break in time after cam break in. If I have a crank turned I shoot for .002 to .0025 on rods and mains. A lot of...

383 rebuild - kinda whimpy on the dyno?

If you pop off the heads goback with a steel shim head gasket to help comp. I've seen stock heads make over 400 hp with not much more cam in a 383 and peek at 6000 rpm. I read an article once that showed big valves without porting actually hurt flow on the 906 heads. That should be a 360 to 375...
