Ok, thank you very much for the response. You stated though that the second gap should be 25% larger than the first ring, so if my gap on the first ring is .026, I got .032 for the second gap if I did my math right. Am I mixing something up with your estimation? Thanks again.

Not to resurrect old threads...but am I missing something with the bottom piston ring end gap? KB's site talks about the top ring gap, but I can't find anything for the second ring. Is it the same specs as the top ring? The build project took a backseat while I had other stuff going on, so...

I notice that seems to be the most commonly referenced Lunati cam (the 403). Why is that, just out of curiosity? When I called Lunati's tech support and told them what I had/what I was trying to build, they recommended the 402, not the 403.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. moper--they are in fact KB Hypers..I set the rings in the cylinders earlier before I set them on the pistons. They were all gapped at around .20 with my feeler gauge. If I understand correctly, then that gap is an acceptable amount for the cylinder, correct...

So I'm installing my piston rings with a ring spreader, and the spreader LIGHTLY scratched the surface of the piston. I tried to be as gentle/delicate as possible but the f'ing tool bumped into it as the ring popped out of the spreader. I can BARELY feel it if I run my finger nail along it...

As a matter of fact I have that exact set of motor mounts sitting on my garage floor right now. I'm going to have to end up buying a slant six to small block motor mount set from Schumacher before too long, so I don't see myself needing this set for anything anytime soon.

So a couple random thoughts here.. On the subject of rocker arms--is there anything wrong with cleaning up and using the stock rocker arms/bar in this engine? I would guess that there's no benefit in going out and buying aluminum rocker arms for this setup when I'm already using stock cast...
