Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

Ok taking pishta's suggestions I did bit of checking. The coil read 1.4 ohms across the post and 9.8k ohms internally. Interesting the coil I changed out (an Accel) had the same readings. With the ignition on I read 12v across the coil and as 12v to the source to the Summit box. This tell...

Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

What does it matter what brand CDI box it is they work the same way, and they are even wired the same, so the diagnostic should be very similar.

Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

When everything running the spark is fine, the car runs like freight train. Which makes me think it's something else. It is possible the box is the problem, but with all of the other variables I'd like to see if there's something else first.

Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

Thank You pishta for giving me some input I can use. Ok I'm sorry for rubbing some of you the wrong way, but if I just go ahead swap out a the ignition system because some doesn't like what I have and I still have the problem, then I've just wasted a lot of time and money. I'd like to make...

Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

Guys the ignition box is fine, there something else going on here. People have been using MSDs for ever, and yes maybe there not as reliable as they once were but for most part they still work. Otherwise they wouldn't sell. How about a little less option and maybe some constructive help please...

Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

My car wouldn't run right with with chrome box? Believe me I tried. It ran great with MSD that is when it ran. I should add this a built motor, 410 roller cam Eddy ported heads. The box I'm using isn't an actual MSD it's Summits version and I think it's working fine. I think it's something...

Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

Having trouble getting spark out of my ignition. I have an MSD a high voltage coil and a stock electronic distributor. I rewired it the ignition according the MSD instructions, which eliminates the ballast. A first it ran great. I drove it for while then it no spark. I checked the wiring, and...

    Amp meter reading backwards

You can change the wires going into the bulkhead in the engine compartment. A bit easier then climbing under the dash.

I hate to sound like a downer, but it's a 55 yr old car It's going to have issues. If you're not handy at working on things you need to do one two things learn as much as you by reading forums and reading a service manual and see what you can do. If that's not working you'll have to find...

If you haven't already check your coil to distributor wire. If ran before you did something, go back and check the things "you" did 1st. If I understand it you were able to fix your interior lights?

I think I fried my amp gauge!

Here we go again! 67Dart273 I'm not an idiot! As I stated in my 1st post I check the wiring and yes I do know how look at wiring diagrams! Just just made a mistake I'm human! If you insist on fire post without reading the thread I asume stay out of my threads!:drama:

I think I fried my amp gauge!

So I converted my 65 Barracuda (that had been converted to electronic) to a MSD type ignition. I bult a new harness to make it a clean installation. Car ran great but I noticed the amp gauge wasn't moving. After driving a while the car starts to stall out (turned out to be low battery voltage)...

Best way to rewire for an MSD?

I just ended up making a new harness, and connected directly to the MSD so I eliminated the ballast all together. I'm still using a recurved stock distributor, and high output coil. The car runs great now idles great and there's no loss of spark thoughout the rev range.

    Tail lights problem

The 1st picture looks like the hazzard relay (what you're holding in you're hand) I can't see the wires connected to it. Thc 4th picture is probably the light for your gauge. Not sure what the others without looking at a wiring diagram. If you don't have one get one and the color of the wires...

65 Dart from stock to 5 pin box to Unilite/MSD6

I'm doing the same thing to my 65 Barracuda. If you use an MSD you need bypass everything and go directly to the coil and the distributor. Tie the ballast leads together and you may need to change to a coil.

Best way to rewire for an MSD?

I have an old harness with a firewall connectors, I think I'm going to rewire engine section just for the Msd to make it nice and neat.

Best way to rewire for an MSD?

So I've been having trouble getting my stock electronic ignition to run right with my new engine set up so I borrowed a friends MSD unit and it fixed all most of my issues. My question is what's the best way to wire an MSD bypassing the stock wiring harness. When I hook my friends unit I hook...

Kind of a new one for me..... any ideas ???

If I understand you correct, your "not" using a external starter switch? If this is the case maybe you have a bad connection in the ignition switch and it's not turning on the coil on when starting it.

Gas gauge and temp gauge stopped working at the same time

Either you lost a ground or the voltage regulator on the circuit board on the back of your dash has failed
