    Some of the old-style sockets you can get repair kits that have the internal parts (spring contacts and phenolic contact pad) I don't have any part numbers, but they use to be pretty common.

    I believe that variable and 3 speed are 2 different systems. The motor in the picture is a variable as the single speed only has 1 connector. 3 speed wipers came later.

    1st disconnect the battery then disconnect the speedometer cable that should allow you to pull it out far enough to unplug the cluster.

    Circuit breaker inside the head light switch but it is self-resetting, unplug the 3-wire connector on the dimmer switch and with the headlight switch pulled out do you have power to one of the terminals?

    I once replaced a set of points on my 63 valiant on the side of the road and still made it to work on time.

    Could have also burned out the amp gauge and the fuse link for that circuit.

    If you see the miss with the timing light it has to be ignition ie coil, distributor, plug wires or plugs and or the wiring for the ignition.

    Ok then I would say no issues with the charging system. You see an alternator with 1 of 3 phases burned up will charge 11.5- 12.0 volts which will charge the battery enough to not appear to be a problem until you put a load such as the headlights on it. But also check the voltage with it running...
