    Well I have tested the alternator as you said, with direct cable from battery to field where green cable was connect. With engine off it read the same as battery 12.78v.     I did all the tests and that is result: When green field wire not connected, 12.9 at battery and 12 at black cable on regulator. With engine running 11.8 at alternator big connector. I suppose the alternator is not working. Alternator is a round one labelled as reworked (made in Mexico). Any advice

    I found out what the switch is for, it is not a toggle switch it is resistor which turns and is replacing the blower switch. I have no idea why this has been done, but for now I am leaving it. Thanks for all your information.
