without airbleeds the engine would run richer as rpm increases unless the carburetor could correct the fuel/air ratio. this is done by the airbleeds introducing air into the fuel before it leaves the nozzle. it also improves atomization.

try to find the intake and carb from the "SUPER SIX" 225cid engine pkg. think I seen a couple on Ebay.

sounds like the mech. pump wasn't priming itself. sometimes its a ***** to get it going.

those are there if you want a recirculating fuel system. It shouldn't be drilled and tapped.. unless somebody already did that.

yes. put at least 1/2 tank of fuel, then add about a liter of acetone. it will clean EVERYTHING. change the fuel filter when the tank is empty.

the proper way to determine engine VE is as follows: ~ theoretical cfm = rpm x displacement / 3456 ~ volumetric effciency = actual cfm / theoretical cfm x 100 this is only good if you have an access to an engine dyno. otherwise, this will get u in the ballpark much better then the .85...
