I was thinking 17x7, probably 5" backspace. I think I'll need wildly different backspace I back, with the narrow axle.

My concerns are cost (18s are pricey), and having room for sidewall on an A with the short tires.

I know this is a very old post, but I'm planning on 17 or 18" wheels on my 73. (See avatar.) Would your sizing here work for 17" wheels, as well? Say...235/50 front? It seems like you're saying even an 8" wheel would clear in front without the tubular UCA swap...right?

Definitely-XJ, YJ, and TJ Jeeps use the AMC/Mopar 4.5" bolt pattern. I've seen people running 15x7 Jeep wheels on Mopars.

255 is fine-I was honestly thinking 225 or 235. (I know that 235/55R17 is a common tire size.) So...17x7 should work...probably 5" backspacing...right? (Which is...what offset? Crap, I'm confused.)

Since I have seen Jeep steel wheels on old Mopars before, I don't expect a problem.

What's the backspacing on the 18s? I want to swap my Duster from 14/15" Rallys to 17s, but am terrified of spending a pile of money and finding out that the wheels do not fit.

Stock 73 brakes, though I'll probably go with 11.75" B-body rotors when I replace the fronts. I'm not worried about clearance-it's a 16" wheel. Just wondering if I missed something obvious here.

Planning to make my Duster a daily driver...currently has a 14" wheel and a very old 185/75 tire. I'm considering grabbing a Jeep donut as a spare (T125/90D16, from base-model XJ Cherokees, about 25"). Anyone done this? I see absolutely no reason this will not work.

FWIW, a wheel repair place could fix it,no problem.

x3. I ran through two sets on my Caddy (235/70R15) and liked them...only complaint is they are only T speed rated. (But that's fine for a /6 Barracuda...)

Wheel Vintiques made 17" steelies. (Jeff Koch's HRM project Montego ran them.) They still do...they have these, which they will sell in primer and you can paint black. Not "cop car" wheels, but might work. Failing that...might late-model Crown Victoria wheels work?

And most are not radials!

Those are tough, but a 205/75R15 is easy enough to get and a 215/75 even more so.

That might be because they are OVERLOADED! How much weight do you have on those tiny tires?

The Cherokee's 16" wheel should fit. What about a later Mustang?

Base-model Jeep Cherokee. IIRC, it's a 125/90D16.

Depending on tire brand, an F70-14 would be a 205/70 or 215/70R14.

I went to school with a guy who had a SBP Duster. He ran 100mm wheels for about two years. They came off my senior year, because several wheel studs were cracking! One snapped off when removing a tire...three others on that wheel were cracking. I have to say that roofing nail in the tire...
