What I'm really asking is, I could modify my O/D if i have to to use the non O/D housing but I would rather use the O/D bellhousing. But will the o/d housing bolt up ok to my motor? Thanks.

I was talking about the older bellhousings. I read that the smaller holes could be machined out to 4.80 ( any larger would go into the bolt holes ) and change the retainer on the O/D to 4.80. That way I could match an older bellhousing to the O/D if need be. But I would like to use the newer...

I am changing my 70 dart w/ 73' 340 motor to a 4 speed. I was wondering what year trans. would fit. I had found a trans. (w/ driveshaft)with the ball and trunion and heard that was 65' and prior. will this fit my car without having to modify it to work? Just not sure what are the best years...
