Unusual things on my 1966 barracuda

If it is a California car, it probably has the Clean Air Package, explaining the black air cleaner on the Commando engine. The 9 inch brakes all around with the disk brake master is odd, but possible. Weird things happen on the assembly line. The vinyl top on the car is a rare option, not many...

    66 valiant

Welcome to FABO! I'm going to echo what eestatic said and make a plan. I've had my 1966 Barracuda for 16 years and its still not done, but I can drive it and it makes me happy. The engine is a good choice, a 904 will fit right in with no issues. From there what upgrades do you want? front...

    1966 Formula S fender tag

I asked Mark Worman and his response was that it's an "inspectors stamp". I wonder if it's specific to a certain factory or a random check at all factories by inspectors.

Yeah, this is an old thread but I came across it doing some Fender Tag research. Does anyone have an answer to the mysterious "S" shaped hole stamped in a fender tag? See example below.

    1966 'Cuda Hood

The scoop inserts came in and I quickly sanded them down, primed and painted them. I had some nuts to install them but will need to get the correct ones to get them bolted tight. The last cruise of the year was today and a perfect day it was to debut the new hood. I left the hood down not so...

    1966 'Cuda Hood

OK, I'm almost done. I am waiting on the hood inserts as they should arrive sometime this week. I have the last cruise night this Sunday and really want them installed by then. I have to stop here and give major props to all of you who do bodywork for a living. It really is an art and a skill...

    1966 'Cuda Hood

Thanks. Having a early 'Cuda you can't just open a catalog and put one together. I got tired of waiting for companies to make the parts I needed so I could bolt them on and when they did make them they cost too much to buy. If you look at my websites Tech Section, its full of articles...

    1966 'Cuda Hood

Thanks. No, I didn't remove any of the original hood first and am regretting it. The hood is much heavier now, I'll have to cut from underneath to remove some.

    1966 'Cuda Hood

Thanks. I had thought of moving them outwards some, but the center of the hood is higher than the outside of the scoops. I figured it would have been alot more work to move them.

    1966 'Cuda Hood

I am happy to say I'm done with the filler. I use way too much and end up sanding most of it back off, but I'm getting better. I am waiting for a set of hood inserts I got from ebay. They need to be refinished but they have the inserts. Maybe I'll make some custom inserts to match the '66...

I guess the original thread got lost.....Sooooooooooooo I'll just repost it! I'm taking the Raylle hood from a 72 'Cuda and graphing it onto my 1966 Barracuda. Start with one free hood with a Snorkel scoop and a hole and go from there. The Hood 15 Min. later 16 Min. later (nah!)...

66 Cuda slant 6 for 289 Ford Possible???

For all the effort to install a 289 v8 and trans, driveshaft mods, exhaust, etc. I would rebuild the slant or get a good running engine and swap it. I did the reverse in high school. 67 ford f150 short bed with a blown motor. I made some motor mounts, dropped in a 225 /6 and trans. floor auto...

    '66 Barracuda rear axle question

Like Kit said, Unless you have the right tools its a tough job. You might save some bucks by removing the bearing yourself, but I would have the new one pressed on at a shop. Less possibility of pressing it on unevenly. Hey, I'm all for saving money when and where you can. Sometimes you just...

    '66 Barracuda rear axle question

The 7 1/4 does not have clips holging the axles at the diff, so thats easy. To remove the axle remove the wheel and drum. There is a large hole in the axle flange. Through it you will remove the 4 axle retaining nuts. Just rotate it around to access each one in turn. Now the axle may slide...

2 questions 1 on a gauge and other is suspention.

Here is the Performance Indicator from my 66 Barracuda. Its a vacuum gauge that shows where your at under power, idle and economy. I use it to help with the fuel mileage, if I get into the power section too much I know I need to find a gas station soon! The Formula S models had a tach instead of...
