e85 or stay with pump gas

Agree 100% same results 2-3 tenths quicker great for round robin racing. Spring/fall you almost can leave your car running all day while racing, will need warm up time lol

    Help needed

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge you can see from your seat? I have seen this before and the fuel reg. plunger would intermittently hang open and almost always happen right after the initial hit of the line. Just something to check ours was checked a few times before we where lucky it finally...

    best time yesterday!

But the leaf spring car needs some tunning/small changes to pick up a couple tenths. There is some time lost in the way it is now. It's not working the way it should esp. with the hp it has. would love to hear the setup. Maybe we could help without spending any or very little $$$. Just some...

    Moving the engine back

I had a friend move his back 2" in a 1968 GTX. He had to alter the firewall and the steering, by the time he was done and back racing a few months he said never again. 68 GTX tubbed, narrowed danna cal-trac car. He's a Former NHRA Div.1 Champ. and been racer for years.

    When to freshen engine

Everyone does there own deal with aluminum rods. I've seen them with less than 50 passes and took the pan off because of oil leak and found 5 cracked rods! Talk about luck. IMO replacing rods as maintance is a lot cheaper in the long run!! You just have to decide where your limit is!

    4.56 vs 5.13s

I used a Turbo action 8" 5000-5200 You really get what you pay for in a converter. I never had any luck changing rpm on a used converter. Thats just me.

    water pump block off

Over 19 years and not 1 problem with the mag lug nut. Just replace hose every couple years. To each there own. We tried the rubber cap on brothers car and three weeks old at the drag strip it blew open!! So never again for any of our cars.

    water pump block off

Sounds funny but I used heater hose and a chrome shanked lug nut. I just filled some theads into the shank so the hose had some thing to grip to when clamped. May look a bit funny but much safer than any thing you can buy for it!!!

    u- joints

Have a drive shaft built to take a 1350 and never look back after you chage the yoke

    Top End Needed

What size header are you running? A cheap 1 5/8 header will kill that at top end also. You'll need at least 1 3/4 tube header.

Took the Barracuda to the track today for first time

Our fuel bowls on our barracuda with a 750 were very sensitive. I had to run them a touch to high. Everyone who looked at them said something but thats what worked. Just a touch not alot. Esp. in the rear!!! With or w/out the ext...

    Best guess on 416 motor

33* is not much timing for a sbm I've seen some run the best at 38-39* take advantage of doing some testing even 60ft and 330ft will give you the numbers your looking for starters. I agree the converter might be to tight.

street tires at the track - any tips?

Street tires with a medium to large burnout = more tire spin off the line. Some have a happy spot but most just go around water box back up and clean tires off (spin a little) and be ready to pedal with a 408 . Have fun! Should be a blast for you!!

    Help me settle an argument

Keep in mind carbs are like anything eles, some work better than others. I have used two out of the box (new) carbs same cfm and one was a tenth faster no mater what we did. When you find the right combo hang on to it. I do agree your lacking in cfm.

1st time at the track advice.

The only thing I could stress is if at any point the car feels uncontrable or even starts to sway around LIFT!!! I don't mean to be rude but I have grew up at the drag strip and have seen so many people think they can drive through it and really you cant. Next thing they are in the grass, wall or...
