Thanks, turbodart68. If you like the car, I take it as a compliment. Pure Vision does great detail work (like the traditional air cleaner turned into a pressure hat), but this design is all mine, not Steve's. ;-) I appreciate your words of warning. Believe me, I know better than to jump on...

Sorry for the delayed response, 67Dart273. I've been out of town on vacation and taking care of some business... Yes, the air filter has been modified to act as the pressure bonnet. The turbo exits through a hole in the inner fender and is connected to a filter which was mounted in the...

Well, we'll see. I just don't foresee myself launching at a high enough rpm to be into the boost. Again, this is a STREET car, not a drag car. I'm too old to be lighting it up at every stop light! :glasses7:

408 CI, compression of 8.5:1, with freeway flyer 3.23 gears. Since this is going to be my daily driver, the idea was to make it as streetable as possible with extras thrown in for fun. ;-)

This isn't a drag car that I'm going to be launching at 6,000 rpm, Mad Dart. As a daily driver,I really don't need a lot of sidewall flex. This turbo doesn't kick in until 3,200 rpm, so unless I mash the gas pedal doing 70 on the highway, wheel spin isn't a concern. Besides, if I take it to...

So with wheels mounted, I thought I'd give you all a look at what TurboScamp looks like... Still tuning, some final wiring and cosmetic details to finish up, then get it on the road and break it in. It's been a long, long road, but I'm definitely seeing light at the end of the tunnel!

For those who previously questioned how a radiator, intercooler and tranny cooler were going to fit, check out the highly modified front and neat cooler stacking. Just like a jigsaw puzzle! The stock grill (with slight modification) still fits, helping to maintain the sleeper vibe. Those...

After much thought, I decided to ditch the stock evaporator and install a modern unit from Vintage Air. Here it is mounted under-dash and ready to wire and plumb.

Rims came in two weeks ago and tires arrived late last week. Here's what the rear looks like mounted up. Ignore the blue tape which has some incorrect info. These are 17x9.5 inch rims, and the tires are 275x40's. These look HOT, if I do say so myself! :burnout:

Don't feel bad, Criscobath. I've been working on this car since 2007!:goodman:

Last couple of shots for the day... Here's the turbo installed, along with the new oil and coolant lines. The finger is pointing to a bung welded onto the fuel pump block-off plate for an oil line going back into the block. You can also see the wrapped coolant line from the radiator which...

Here's another shot of the engine bay. Headers back on, throttle and kick down cables installed, fuel rails, a/c compressor, etc. Check out the neat custom fender heat shields. Hate to see newly painted fenders covered, but I'd hate to smell the burned paint from the headers even more.

Ok, front suspension and brakes all reinstalled and ready to go.

To avoid future rust issues, inner fenders coated in truck bed liner before suspension reinstalled.

Engine bay is coming back together. Check out the neat heat shields for electronic components.

Lol! Thanks for the offer, Joey, but that's not me doing the dirty work! Car is up in Simi Valley at Pure Vision.

K member notched, cleaned and painted, suspension pieces mounted, ready to attach the engine. Engine bay has been filled and sanded, now waiting for paint. We'll be lowering the car onto the k member, rather than dropping the engine from the top and risk gouging the new paint.

I know it's been a long, long time since I gave an update on the Turbo Scamp. Sometimes life gets in the way and priorities have to change. Things are back on track and moving forward, so I figured it was time for an update. Nothing sexy here, but with the motor out for the long awaited...

    Project Scamp getting final paint

You're braver than me. I always think about how much it will cost me to have someone else fix the things I screw up, and it keeps me from attempting a lot of things... Good luck!

Here's the beginning stages of getting the headers built. Silicone and aluminum water hoses and the crossover pipe mock-up (an expansion joint will be placed where the blue tape is seen on the pipe). Next is a jig to help in forming the exhaust pipes where they attach to the exhaust flanges...

Mad Dart gave me a kick in the butt by sending a private message, so I figured I'd post some new pics and talk about what's been going on with this build... Let's start with...The fuel system is completely done, lots of neat custom brackets underneath to hold the black, woven fuel lines...

Sorry for disappearing. This economy and other obligations have taken priority for the past couple of months. I hope to be back to getting work done on TurboScamp in the near future... If you look back a bit, you'll see info on my locking hood pins. Yeah, the accessories required way...

Okay, got some pic updates. Finally got the merge collectors in, so we're starting to mock up the plumbing. Despite moving the battery to the trunk and going to manual steering and brakes, the engine bay starts to look awfully small when you begin to lay pipe, so to speak. Don't give me a...
