    Pressing Piston Wrist Pins

I guess to be clearer would be if I asked just what it is that a machine shop is doing that cannot be done at home? I do machine work at home, I have lathes and a Bridgeport, there's no magic done in machine shops, it's simply careful and precision work. The UTG vid does mention a forge for...

    Pressing Piston Wrist Pins

Really, what's the point in working on stuff at all if we can just pay other people to do it for us. Seriously?

    Safe to run and drive?

If you don't have the ability to do a repair it'll probably be just fine. If you can though, cut the ear off the dead engine, do a matching cut on the new engine and weld the ear on. Easy repair if you have access to the tools.

Has anyone come up with a feasible way to do this at home? Or is it strictly machine shop time? TIA

To De-Smog or not to De-Smog...

I have to disagree, smog equipment and specs are notorious power and fuel economy robbers. The slant is just one example of the before and after of the smog regulation. The early 60's slants were quite strong stock, the late 70's slants barely got out of their own way. When we buy parts for Ford...

To De-Smog or not to De-Smog...

You'll probably want to keep the charcoal canister. In the early days the fuel tanks were vented into the atmosphere. In later years they ended up installing the charcoal canister and routing the ventilation through it. If you remove the canister and cap off the line you'll no longer have a vent...

To De-Smog or not to De-Smog...

Done correctly you can pull most of that stuff. Just don't start jerking stuff though, the car will more than likely have to be re-tuned to compensate for the changes. Optimum end result would be hose for the PCV, line for the vacuum advance, and whatever your heater and AC requires. Don't...

    What is this?

That's the normal air horn for the BBS, the stud clips into the two ears on the side. Are you sure that vacuum port's threaded? All the ones I've ever had were just pressed lightly in. And just to throw my 2 cents in, the BBS carb is the best carb for the slant six (stockish anyways), I have...

    clutch fan for slant 6

A clutch fan has nothing to do with cooling performance. It's function is to prevent the wasted HP and fuel used to spin the fan when it is not needed. :-D Haven't tried one in an early A yet, but I do plan to.
