I am guessing this is a solid lifter engine fitted? IMO it will most likely be the valve clearances have closed up,which makes a rough idle. I have seen this many times. So,before you tear into things,re set the valve clearances to specs,and see what happens. Cheap too. Betcha that will fix...

Hello, There were 3 sizes of those engines. 215,245,and 265 cubic inch. Compared to the smooth slant,they were (IMO) a rattly,coarse engine,but did make good power. If you were to import one,it would make good sense to import a K frame for the "hemi" as well. AFAIK they are interchangeable...

I do'nt think you are referring to a Slant Six here,are you.? priming shaft through the distributor shaft is not possible on a Slant,nor does oil feed to the rocker assembly by any front bolt. the rear rocker assembly bolt with the chamfered shaft is the oil feed...

no problem at all. with the dots lined up opposite one another,#6 is at TDC. ifyou have # 1 at TDC,exactly the opposite will be what you see. 180 deg opposed.see this post from Slantsix.org click here fit it up with the dots aligned is the best way to do it. regards,Rod:happy10:

they are all studs - or should be. the 2 end ones (front and back) go through to water,and I have found some heads that have the odd centre ones that find water as well. if a bolt is in there and it is doing the job -leave well alone,but if you want that original look,put a stud in. do'nt forget...

hello, it is easy to wrongly instal the pump on a slant with the actuator arm under the cam lobe. make sure that the arm is on top of the cam lobe,and see how you go. regards,Rod:happy10:
