    Nicks Garage 383 build

A year ago this august I was Interested in the details of Nicks Kowalski build. So I emailed him, assuming he would get back to me in a month or so, But I left my number on his machine.. At 8:15 the next morning he called me, and we talked thru his engine build, as I had questions on which...

    68 Cuda 383 vs a 360

yes a bit heavy, but quite an unusual car, and will always hold it's value. it is all about what you want out of life. When I bought my 68 GTS in 2003, I was 26 miles from home. It was a modified 383 dart, and quite frisky. My friend gave me a ride to pick it up, and as we headed back to the...

    68 Cuda 383 vs a 360

I am old school, I have a 69 383 Cuda, a 68 GTS 383, and a 69 Dart GTS 340. And Whatever it was Originally, it gets. But being old, I don't put cast crank 360's in anything if the car never came with it. 360,400, or 440.But I don't race any more. However, If I did want to put another 60's A...

    B vs RB

they look the same, simply look at the casting number on the side of the block. 361 and 383 have different numbers.

    Rebuilding Original Engine 383-s Fastback

I want to apologize Rklien383 for the previous entry, as I was brain dead at the time . I bought this gorgeous Cuda, and it came with the original 383 HP engine.. Parts were in the trunk, and in boxes. The seller (my friend for 30 years)said everything was stock original stuff. I delivered...

    B vs RB

I have a 400, and am tempted to build a nice engine for the Cuda as some have done here. I am still learning.

    B vs RB

Hey I'm old. I saw these cars race when new. When a well set up 340 showed up,it was over. You didn't have to spend a bunch to get a 340 dart to stick, but 383-440 B blocks needed tires, and skill to drive. any Amatuer could step on a 340 Dart and go fast. That is how it was. I have a 383 Cuda...

    B vs RB

Low deck, exhaust problems, weight. I go with the B block. Back in the day: "catch me in the first 60 feet, or you won't catch me at all" ( 340 A body VS 440 HP B body cars) 383's can be made to really embarrass 440's in 1970, when in the A body car.

    Rebuilding Original Engine 383-s Fastback

It sounds like you have a good handle on it, I'm sure your machinist will guide you to the desired result. I wanted to share a recent experience with a 68' 383 HP with the 10:1, and decided to follow the advice of a couple other roadrunner guys in phoenix, where it is really hot. I discarded...

    Rebuilding Original Engine 383-s Fastback

nope, mine aren't flat tops. 10.25:1 originals, and I can send you pictures of them if that will help. I love hearing about another 69' 383 four speed car, as I am finishing one up as well.

What were they looking for? BB

There is one in my shed, CE23L77xxxxxx.I have had it 16 years. It is a 1967 model, and also a real 440 Magnum, manual steering, no A/C. Disc brakes, Auto, painted top. Somebody wanted a plain Jane race car. Before I got it, it had sat behind a gas station for the previous 17 years. Apparently...

    junkyard 440 approx price?

440 engine values vary. 66-71completes I can easily get 500-750 for, if they turn over and not stamped HP.If they are, the value is based on the Buyers needs, and how close that engine is in production to the car they own. 67' HP engines are worth the most. First year, closed chambered 915's, no...

    "High Performance" VIN ID

I have a second 400 on the stand, dated 1972. I don't know anything about it, but I may take it apart to determine what it is. It has a forged crank, with 906 heads and a 70 Roadrunner Intake on it. It has been in storage for 20+ years. I don't have the time right now to pull the original 400...

    "High Performance" VIN ID

pessimistic regarding the 400 I am. I hope it proves me wrong! I have a 77' with all the police options, and 400 four barrel. Basically the non lean burn had dual exhaust and no lean burn, and more power, TQ9054, @ 240HP according to the Chrysler book. The N code was the lean burn single...

    Engines been sitting

I removed the valve covers, and sprayed around the springs and seals, removed the plugs, sprayed WD-40 in all the cylinders. After a bit I cranked for short periods. I watched to be sure all the pushrods were moving properly, and kept a finger over the spark plug hole to see if there was...

    HP Manifolds

After being gone so long I remember now This A body group is a lot of fun to read. Accurate built a superb exhaust system for my 69 dart V8, and it is a very high quality fit. I also remember reading years ago about Chrysler in 1968 telling everybody a 440 would never fit in an A body. So, an...
