I went with the 545RFE. Wasn't $350 ( good find BTW ) but it was 26K miles and was able to get starter, flex plate, TC for about $650. If I had to do this again I would get it from a jeep along with the shifter and ECU. This way I could have an autostick setup.

I don't really think I am worried about gettin valve covers off with motor in. If I need access I figure I will just do like my transam that I had and loosen mounts and rock or jack up engine. I am not a big fan of the notches.

The dealership and a couple yards around me stated that the vin is no longer on the motor. I dug all around my 09' 5.7 and could only find the part number and plant build data.

None of the tuning houses mentioned needing it but in the effort of alleviating future headaches I just made sure I had the vin for everything I bought.

+1 it's easy enough to find a local yard with an ECU and if you try hard enough you can get the pedal that is calibrated right to that ECU. Really shouldn't be to much difference in calibration but hey if you need both why not get a matched set.

Thanks for that, I got the converter, and flex plate when I bought the tranny. $650 for the whole shootin match. I dont think that was to aweful considering it has 29K miles and I drove 10 minutes to get it.
