    Fan suggestions

DartThis74 (Aaron) is my son and we finally worked this out on his Dart. The Hayden clutch did work perfectly on his 360 with the Champion radiator. We used the OEM five-blade fan and the hole spacing lined up exactly. There is approximately 3/4" clearance between fan and radiator. It was a...

    73 fan shroud?

I swapped a 360 into a slant '74 Duster. Simply flipped the slant shroud over top to bottom and trimmed a tiny bit off the bottom lip to clear the lower radiator hose. Fits like a glove.

Can u pull the heater/ac box without dash removal

Absolutely no reason to remove the dash structure just to pull the A/C-heater box. Definitely makes it easier, though, if you remove the glove box because you have to get up on top to remove/reattach the defrost vent hoses. Disconnect cable from control switch, all vacuum lines, and electrical...

no heat in my 72 dart...AC car

Yep, the heater core is located inside the A/C-heater "box" that you suspected comes out. Having the A/C disconnected or completely removed has nothing to do with the heater working properly - totally separate systems. You'll find two heater hoses connected to the core's copper tubes which...

Sorry, no, that tube is for venting the blower fan. I have that one. Thanks, anyway.

    I need a drain tube

Anyone have a decent one of those rubber drain tubes on the bottom of the heater-A/C box for a '74 Duster you don't need? Let me know, Jerry [email protected]

    A/C kits?

Originally an A/C car. Want to ditch the under-dash box and possibly close off the fresh air hole in the cowl (leaking).

    A/C kits?

What complete A/C kits are available? Who has installed one, and what do you think about it? What did you do to eliminate the fresh air opening in the floor of the cowl?

Slant 6 shroud in my 360 barracuda.

My son and i are using his original slant six shroud on the 360 we swapped in. To get the opening centered on the fan we flipped the shroud over 180 deg. and had to trim only about 1/2" piece off to clear around the lower radiator hose. Even the mounting holes lined up perfectly with the...

    Overflow bottle question

If the "valve" you referred to is manually operated and does not open automatically (maybe based upon a set pressure rating), I would say you need a vent hole. These old systems with the plastic overflow bottles are basically open to the atmosphere, not closed systems. If you have, in effect...

'73 (and up?) radiator overflow bottle?

Yep, that's my '74 bottle, too.

'73 (and up?) radiator overflow bottle?

The '74 mounts in the same place as in that pic above, but the strap is not the same. Also, it's overflow is molded into the bottle itself, so there is no second hose. Obviously, either one will work, however. Jerry

'73 (and up?) radiator overflow bottle?

The '74 bottles I have had in a Dart Sport and Duster were similar with one exception. They only have one overflow hose connected to a nipple molded into the top of the plastic bottle and on the inboard (radiator) side. The short nub on the bottom of the bottle you can barely see in your...

    heater shut off valve

Do you mean the water control valve that is installed in-line in one of the heater hoses and operated by vacuum or cable? If so, you might have a difficult time finding one that has the built-in mounting bracket. I bought a replacement one from a local auto parts store and made my own bracket...

    Fan shroud part numbers

This may sound crazy, but last weekend, my son Aaron and I were dealing with the same issue on his '74 Duster. We installed a radiator that was taken off his grandparents' Dodge Maxivan. It bolted up perfectly in the Duster. We had already swapped in the 360 from the van in place of the...

Where did this water come from?

I already suspected the heater core, because there aren't any other logical reasons for water to get into the car. But, what had me baffled was that it only leaked the one time, just after the new engine's first start-up. Also, this was a new heater core. We have run the car many times since...

Where did this water come from?

Guess I should also mention... The A/C has been out of the car for two years. No condensation and no chance of residual moisture in the housing. Bodywork has been done for about six months, so no wet sanding. Jerry

Where did this water come from?

Something very odd here. I replaced the heater core with a new one in Aaron's factory A/C-heater unit in his Dart Sport. After we got the engine running for the first time last week, we ran it through its initial break-in paces. Later, when we were about to go home, I noticed a small puddle of...
