Is exhaust back pressure the culprit here?

Need to pick up some brass feeler gauges tomorrow. What's the gap supposed to be, 0.006?

Is exhaust back pressure the culprit here?

You might be onto something. I went out to the garage this evening and it started just fine and idled smoothly like it has been for weeks. Stone cold start...depressed accelerator once to give it a sip and set the choke. Popped right off, had to give it just a little coaxing to settle into a...

Is exhaust back pressure the culprit here?

My mistake, Aaron just corrected me. The 3" header collectors were already reduced down to 2.5" exhaust pipes and mufflers. This final trip took 2.25" after the mufflers out the back. Brief history... New engine was broken-in on dyno stand, Holley 750 was tuned, and timing was set. Engine was...

Is exhaust back pressure the culprit here?

The 360 in my son's car was starting, idling, and running well with the timing set with 3" exhaust pipes ending short of the rear axle so we could install a rear sway bar. Today, we had the remaining segments of pipes over the axle and the tips installed. Because of the tight fit between sway...

    Cheap headers, and power steering?

Dynamax headers fit in my son's '74 Duster with a little coaxing (no hammers used). Has a 360, mini starter, and power steering. The only major issue we had was a clearance problem with the steering shaft coupler. Had to do a little modification. Their price was right, too.

    new headers

Haven't done Hedman, but the Dynomax we used on my son's Dart Sport had to be hung into the engine bay loosely, then fitted to the manifold studs and dropped into place as the engine was being lowered. We also had to modify the steering shaft flexible coupler because of a conflict with one...

first time doing an exhaust on a /6

Agree with the Dynomax, but I went with 2-1/4" for better breathing. Sounds great.

    How does the exhaust hang?

Just got my stainless tip from Accurate Exhaust Products today. Now, the question is where does the tip hang, relative to the rear bumper? Does it stick out beyond the bumper a little, or is it supposed to be hidden underneath? How much space is between the tip and the bottom edge of the bumper...

    Dart tips

68dart340, I don't mean to jack your thread, but I've been dealing with the same question. I saw the ad for exhaust tips on Moparts.com and called Accurate Ltd. for info on a stainless tip for my son's '74 Dart Sport. Once before, I thought I had heard there might be a problem with their...

What style tips for Dart Sport?

Sounds like rectangular is the way to go. Not that we are looking to be concourse perfect, but would like to be close to "period" correct. I really do like the looks of the rectangular tips, and would probably have decided on them anyway. Thanks for the "tips" Jerry

What style tips for Dart Sport?

Finally dropped off my son's '74 Dart Sport for a new exhaust system, today. They will leave the tail pipe running long, until we get the bumper re-installed, so they can see how short to cut it. Question: What was the original treatment for the end of stock tail pipes on the Dart Sports...
