    trans question

The 4 quarts was a guess, I was filling it with a gallon container and thought going from memory that it was about empty after filling the converter. Ill get things taken care of, thanks for the thoughts

    trans question

That trans has been installed for about a week now. Went out to move the truck yesterday and I noticed a little bit of trans fluid on the driveway. Crawled under it and can see that there is a very small fluid drip coming out of the bellhousing area. ( dead center bellhousing ) Is it safe to...

    N.p 435

I have the original 86 parts book and while the vertical shield is the same slant or V-8 the pan that the clutch/pressure plate sit in is not. It has its own Mopar part number that does does not cross into any other applications that I am aware of.

    N.p 435

I have been looking for months for a dustshield for my New Process 435 trans that is behind my 1986 slant engine. No luck so far. Its a 4 wheel drive truck trans if that makes any difference. Id make it worth someones while if they knew of one avail. Thanks

    trans question

Thanks for all the suggestions guys but I am prob. going to go with a local re-builder that offers a 1 year warranty. He will charge 650 if I bring it to him and 850 if he does start to finish. Considering I would have 2-3 dollars in parts alone I do not think 650 is a bad price at all. I can...

    Transmission re-build

    Transmission re-build

Quote: It might seem overwhelming if you've never been inside a transmission before but once you have it in front of you it will all make sense, they come apart in about 5 big pieces, you replace some small parts in each piece then you put the 5 big pieces back together........... You hit...

    Transmission re-build

Thanks guys, I will get a better look at it today and if I can post some pictures. A reputable trans re-bulder here locally said 650 if I pull it and give it too him or 850 if he does start to finish. At an approx 300 dollar kit cost I dont see how I can go wrong at 650. I have read on-line...

    Tranny slip

Transmission slips real bad, is there any chance that it might be the converter instead of the trans. It is a 727 and slant six engine. Recent purchase, drove the truck home ( 1973 ) but was slow going. Forget about getting any RPMs Not sure how to diagnose, just assuming the trans is bad...

    Transmission re-build

I understand that location is a factor here but roughly what might be a fair price to pay to have a 727 Re-built. It is behind a slant six engine. I would remove the trans myself and deliver to the re-builder. I also have the option of re-building the trans myself evidently with this kit...

    trans question

Thanks, what should I expect to pay someone to re-build the trans if they are not really all that complicated assuming I remove it and take it to them? I guess I also have this option that someone pointed out to me on the slant forum. http://www.makcotransmissionparts.com/A727.html Any reason...

    trans question

I was mistaken then, looking at it now and with the info above I can see that the parts truck has the 904 and the new truck the 727. Stupid question maybe but I dont suppose its as easy as buying the kit and installing to go thru the bad trans? Coming up with tools are not an issue for me...

    trans question

Is there a long tailshaft and short tailshaft 904 trans? I ask cause I have what I am assuming ( just bought truck minutes ago and its dark now outside ) a long bed ( assuming long tailshaft ) 73 slant truck with a 904 trans that is shot but have a spare short bed ( short tailshaft ) slant...
