Ignition Issue, motor wont stay running

I'd be checking the 'run' wire at the bulkhead connector for a bad/corroded connector.

Charged battery, but doesn't even try to start.

It could be as simple as a bad battery. I've seen people chase their take only to find out their 14 year old battery gave up the ghost. Have the battery checked out.

Wiper switch already cost me 2 days

Usually that means the wrong switch for the wiring harness/connector. Do you have a factory wiring diagram?

    What AMP alternator???

Exactly. With electric fans and pump I would pay attention to the low speed alternator output otherwise you will find that your voltage drop at idle will be excessive (like 10 volts). IIRC only the larger alternators put out significant amps at idle. It was awhile ago now so the details are...

    Ammeter/Voltmeter Gauge Conversion

Sounds like a good idea. I just bypassed the ammeter and added an aftermarket voltmeter in a gauge pod which leaves a dead gauge in the dash.

    Total timing?

I wish I had known about that kit when I set my distributor up but it wasn't a huge deal. Perhaps I got lucky and got the timing right on the 2nd try.

    Total timing?

With the MP unit you have to look down at the plates and loosen 2 screws which allow the plates to slide (i haven't looked at one for a few years). IIRC you slide them closer for less advance. It is trial and error unlike the MSD which uses offset bushings. Changing the springs is a one time...

    Total timing?

The newer MP distributors have adjustable mechanical advance so you don't have to weld the slots up which is a trial and error process and requires a distributor machine to spin it up. On a small block you pretty much need to pull the MP distributor out to adjust it though.

    4 Way Flasher Location

Maybe behind the lower left kick panel or am I thinking horn relay?

    recurved distributor? why?

Depending what distributor you have you may not have adjustable mechanical advance (stock). With a full recurve job they can build in a fixed amount of advance, say 20 deg. by welding up the slots and redrilling/grinding. Thus you will have 15 idle and 35 full or whatever you desire. If you...
