Alternator recommendations? (and other very noob question)

Excess is better than not enough. But if you only got a 100-150 amps worth of electronics no need spending extra money on 200-300+ amp alternator.

Alternator recommendations? (and other very noob question)

You can figure the amp draw from everything and add it up, to figure the size of the alternator, battery is to start your car alternator powers the electronics. Stereo alone can eat a lot of juice, 1000 Watts rms / 12 = 83.33 amps obviously that's cranked and at music peaks. To figure out the...

I looked into fob's how I came across self latching relay, like the door lock battery idea, get a four door solenoid set use one of the extras on a cutoff switch plus probably rig a shifter lock with the other one.

Anyone wired a self latching or other type of anti-theft kill switch ?

That's why i think a self latching relay is the way to go, you'd turn the key to the ACC position then push the button one like hemi71x described would be kool which would arm/latch the relay then turn the key to start, but everytime you turn the car off it unarms/unlatches and needs to be...

No Power in the car, but there is in the engine bay

Probably the connection at the bulkhead. Some bypass the old power and run a thicker wire from the battery straight to the fuse box. But it's just a process of elimination. There's got to be a break some where between the battery and fuse box.

What should I expect to pay to have my car re-wired?

I bought a wire kit ($300) to do it myself. If you can wire a stereo you probably could do it yourself. Just do a lot of research. There's not to many circuits to deal with.

    true one wire alternater

I thought about going one wire since I'm rewiring the whole car anyways. But decided to stay with stock alternator and regulator since it really simple circuit and can get replacement parts anywhere. Which is a big thing for me since my car is gonna be a driver.
