Just put a 4bbl and headers on an otherwise stock 5.9 and you have 300 hp. 5.2 would be only a tad less.

Also helps not to wash down the cylinder walls, and turn 1400 rpms at 55 mph instead of 2200 rpms

LA vs Magnum. I like them both. Facts from the Factory: No LA 318 made as much power as the 5.2 magnum. No LA 360 made as much power as the 5.9 magnum.

Pulled the heads off our 5.9 that had 198K on it, still had the factory hone marks.

Also, instead of using stock bolts to hold the rockers down, larger diameter studs can be installed for greater spring pressure/rpm. Harland Sharp makes nice roller rockers as well. But I think the point is in most cases, if there is a serious HP build, aftermarket heads will be used anyways.

DP only uses more gas if you floor it. Driving daily without flooring it, it won't use any more gas but I won't argue it :)

Just for the record, I had 2.45 gears and a stock converter, no headers, and ran the best ET and 60 ft time with the 750 DP vs the VS

It will work great. I have run DP's on auto's for years, and in fact do now. I also have a few VS carbs as well.

best thing about a VS is they are cheaper, and they will run good.

yep. You drive off the front barrels, and they are set up just like a VS front barrels. I don't know why so many attach VS to fuel economy and DP for being race only.

Welcome to the site! Using the LA front and carb, it's pretty simple. Use the LA distributor as well. I would say ask the questions as you go, easier than trying to list 100% of everything.
