Small block Mopar oil filter adapter

I think I know the answer but, I have to re-clock this thing as it's almost impossible to get an oil filter wrench on the filter. Can I loosen that big bolt and turn it or I am going to need to re-gasket the whole thing? Thank you.

    Zinc oil additives

Vice Grip Garage says diesel oil like Shell Rotella has all the onions for old flat tappet engines. I use Amsoil Z-Rod that is specially formulated for flat tappet engines but it's darn near $20.00 a quart right now. It works great for me though so I break out the wallet.

    Mechanical fuel pump

I was trying to keep you in suspense. 1971 340 stock. I have heard that some of the new ones only last about a year or two and some leaked out of the box so I am trying to get some good experiences people have had. This is for a stock resto car so a regulator won't work for me.

    Mechanical fuel pump

Time to think about getting a new mechanical fuel pump for standby as mine is at least 12 years old. I know Carter still makes them but are they USA? Basically I am looking for advise from someone who has replaced theirs fairly recently and had good luck with the one they purchased.

When you order parts you honestly don’t need

For the past few years I have been buying wear items like date coded spark plug wires, hoses, breathers, electronic parts etc. so when they are no longer available I will have a little stock to keep me going.

    GROMMET TROUBLES

Aluminum is a fairly soft metal. I would drill a pilot hole, masking tap over the area and then use a hole saw bit of the proper sizes.

    Let’s hear a 340 story

Not my own story but when I was still living in New York I had my Duster parked at a local cruise in and a guy walked over and said, "340 Duster, those things are quick, I had a 427 I put in a Chevelle and there was a 340 Duster in town and it was the only car I couldn't beat!".

    Keeping it clean?

I find the intake is tough to keep clean because the little nooks and crannies but I usually wipe down what I can reach with quick detailer after each run or so and it has been staying nice. Occasionally I touch up by spraying the paint in a cup and using a small brush. This is after eight years...

The 340 is the biggest POS V8 Chrysler ever made.

My reply would be, you are absolutely right, that is why I bought one. Wait too see his facial expression. Who cares what one man's opinion is and what facts did he base it on? I have people all the time looking at my stock Duster and almost all tell me how fast these cars were back in the...

What is the correct oil filter position? 71 340 Duster

The blue engine is a late build (07/09) and has an angled filter. The orange 340 is a mid year and is straight and pointed down slightly. Which is factory correct? Or are both? Thank you.

High-zinc oil or ZDDP oil additives?

I use Amsoil for Muscle cars. It is a pain because you have to order it, and it isn't cheap, but it seems to work well.

Edelbrocks do take a few pumps because the float bowls drain quickly on them, but they should not be hard when the car has not been sitting long and is still warm.

    " Wedge" engine

There is no difference. That started with the 1971 Duster 340 Wedge because of the hood decal which is an appearance option. The Wedge refers to the shape of the engine.
