'64 Dart drum to disc conversion advice

Note that if you go to the late (73-up) model brakes to get the 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern, you'll need a different ball joint socket to put the new set back in.

    Need help

There's a stick on the 'brakes' part of the forum that says, "I found a source for 10" drums": http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=298507

    What have I got here?

This is why I'm asking - I went with what I was told - when I actually looked at them while preparing to take everything apart to ship, I found out they weren't what I thought. I advised the prospective buyer and told him no worries if he didn't want them. He didn't. I'm trying to make...

    What have I got here?

Yes - had them listed as what I was told they were when I bought them about 4 years ago - need the room, and went with an AlterKtion front end. SSBC - Stainless Steel Brake Company

    What have I got here?

I bought this setup along with an engine - engine was no good, and the brakes don't appear to be what I was told either. They are new, but they don't look like they're SSBC brakes, what with the Pentastar on them and all - what are they, so I can list them correctly? Thanks! John

    Affordable Stand Alone ABS?

It was a two part article in Mopar Action (so you need two issues to get the whole story - I think the issue Rani posted the cover shot of was part 2)

Drum vs Disc, Power vs non Power

I'm putting on front discs because I remember losing my brakes every time I went through a deep puddle back when these cars weren't all that old and I had one for my daily driver. You'd spend the block or two after driving through the puddle 'drying out the brakes' by riding them. (Not a lot...

Early A rear brake tear down question

Hi Bill, Yeah...that's what I was expecting to find when I took the drum off. I think the 'Dodge' had that, but the 'Dart' is different. Have a closer look at the page in the manual - no disc-with-a-plus-sign-shaped-hole on top of the spring. The last picture also shows the retaining...

Early A rear brake tear down question

Thanks, Lawrence. It's hard to get a light in and my head lined up to see what's going on (needing reading glasses to see anything closer than 18" to my face doesn't help). I'm not finding the square tab. The spring has a hook on the end of it that goes into a tab that sticks out of the...

Early A rear brake tear down question

Trying to replace the wheel cylinder I have the top springs loose and the e-brake cable off I'm at the part where I should remove the spring retainer. I'm used to a push in, twist, pop-out slotted/keyed retainer (I think the later model brakes use this). The service manual says to...
