    Shake rattle and roll

I have one on my bench waiting for me to get off my *** and install it. My grandson is autistic and can't handle the hum of the electric pump.

What ignition system are you running? Maybe something going on there???

    Diy - Magnum Swap!!

Try moving your adjusting bracket down to the bottom hole on the fixed bracket. That will move your alternator down so it doesn't hit the head. That's how mine is set up. Hard to tell from the pics but you can see the adjustment bracket attached to the lower hole in the fixed bracket. Four...

    Shake rattle and roll

Okay, we know you have a 2001 Magnum with the original flexplate. That's correct. The converter is neutral balanced. That's correct. The balancer in the background looks to be a multi-use balancer. I "think" the medium bolt in weight is correct for the Magnum. I agree with RRR, the...

    Diy - Magnum Swap!!

I used the same brackets when I did my 273 - Magnum Swap but I used Edelbrock heads.i also kept the LA front end but used a 70 timing cover to have have timing marks on the drivers side. Here's a pic of my alternator bracket. Are your pulleys lining up?

1972 Dart Magnum swap, R46RE Trans

A 904 will fit but you won't have overdrive. Gear Venders unit will give you overdrive and very little modification, so I hear.

99 Magnum Roller Cam Oil Pump Driveshaft

I used the stock intermediate shaft and had the original cam reground by Oregon Cam Grinding.

    Reground Cam

She likes riding more than driving now. I do too cause when I start hearing the engine rev I get REAL skerd, lol.

When we do another meet up at Summit I'll drive it so you can take it for a spin!!

    Reground Cam

@408 swinger. Credit for that grind# goes to @RustyRatRod . He suggested it over three years ago when I was starting my build and asked for suggestions. Thanks Rob!

    Reground Cam

Oh gosh, that was right after I got the engine running. I'd guess 750 - 800 rpm.

    Reground Cam

It's the #1280 grind. 215/.223 @ .050, .517 @1.6 rocker. It sounds much better with open headers than with a full exhaust and Dynamax Super Turbos, lol. They really quiet it down.

    Reground Cam

Just a little rumpty rump...or lumpy Lump, lol. Here's a video with open headers.

    Reground Cam

Did Ken expound on that? I'm curious what the difference is. I don't think you can go wrong with using Oregon Cam Grinding.

    Reground Cam

I'm away for work and can't check my receipt but @Siksty7 Dart 270 just got his last year so price should be about the same.

    Reground Cam

I'm running right at 15⁰ of vacuum. No power brakes on the 66 Barracuda. Yeah, it's a fun engine in the little Barracuda.

    Reground Cam

I had one reground by Oregon Cam Grinding about three years ago. I would need to dig out my receipt to check cost. I "think" it was around $260. Damn shipping to him was a bunch. Can't remember how much but it was a lot. I packed the hell out of it, lol. @RustyRatRod suggested the...

360 magnum swap in 68 barracuda

I did the swap with v-belts, carburetor and headers in my 66 Barracuda. I even used the same 273 engine mounts, and power steering. To get power steering box the clear I had to grind on the block a little. Also had to grind some block for the mini starter to fit. The link @rklein383...

    Octane requirements

Should be fine on 87. I switch between 87 and what they call Rec 90 in Georgia. Non ethanol 90 octane. I can't tell a difference in my 5.9 Magnum stock bottom end, .218/.224 @.050, .517 lift, Edelbrock 2.02 heads, Air Gap and AVS 650, headers.

Magnum motor with Mechanical fuel pump ?

Good plan. Magnums are good engines. Basically, you want the entire front off of your LA. Timing cover, water pump, pulleys, alternator, power steering pump. All my pulleys lined right up. Magnums are externally balanced, so you'll need a weighted harmonic balancer and you'll need the...

    Newb Questions

Looking for a picture reminds me, if you go with v-belt you will need a harmonic balancer for an externally balanced engine and a flywheel for the Magnum engine (I just used the flywheel from my donor 2001 5.9. Here's a pic in work and finished.

    Newb Questions

Hey man, welcome to FABO! The Magnum is a great engine. Like others have said, you'll need to buy the K-member @GTX JOHN has for sale (lol). I used my 273 engine mounts, just had to modify the passenger side mount. If you keep the Magnum cam, you'll need an electric fuel pump. If you...

    Plugs

I moved to a RC9YC on my aluminum head 5.9. 12's were too hot, 9's are perfect. No fouling issues at all.

Fresh mill. Bad happenings? What to check for?

Good thinking. If it has the serpentine setup it will be reverse, if you're running v-belts the LA water pump will work.

    Progress!!! Looks good sitting there.

Stock Magnum Intermediate Shaft w/Melling M72 Oil Pump?

I used the same new M72 oil pump and the original intermediate shaft when I built a 5.9. I can't remember having any difficulty getting it seated.

V Belt on Magnum are my thoughts clear

All great information above! I sent my Magnum cam to Oregon Cam Grinding for a regrind, which meant I would need an electric fuel pump. Then used a 70 ish (?) timing cover and blocked off the fuel pump hole. Then I used everything else off my LA: water pump, power steering pump, fan and all...
