    Port your 273 manifolds, I have used Muriatic acid to get deep inside areas and some grinder work no real cost as apposed to hunting down 340 manifold $$$ for minimal gains. I understand wanting PS who wants to drive dump truck thru a parking lot, I can rip a phone book in half (well almost).

    Yes seems like a lot for not much gain? Years ago I acid ported some 273 manifolds with because I had them on Early A w power steering with a 3 inch single exhaust system similar to Formula S. Seems to work very good.

    Yes 4-5 hundred is not really cheap to most, keep eyes open for a used set early A headers although not too common. My point was not to waste money on other sets of manifolds which offer little benefits.

    For me thats kind of a boarder line situation with a 5.9, If the 5.9 is going to stay stock the for me I would port the 273 manifolds, much more than stock or future upgrades use 273s and save for headers. Manual steering has more room for cheap spitfire type headers.

    Idler Arm hitting exhaust?

    Check motor mounts, engine could be lower due to wear. Exhaust system may have not made correctly. Worst case turn the wheel so you can grease the idler arm then remove the zerk fitting and plug the hole until its time to grease again.

    A Droning story

    Don't understand why but it has been my experience that all things being equal a poorly tuned car will exhaust drone much more noticeably that one that is tuned to the best of its combination of parts.

    single exhaust for 318...what size??

    a single 3 inch system flows as well as a dual 2 1/4, just make sure the Y pipe is a good design decent sized pipes off the manifolds
