    66 Barracuda Hood Buffeting at 70+ mph

    Check the grill stiffening bracket below the hood latch my 66 was doing the exact same an the bracket was cracked. Sorry no picture, if cracked will allow hood to move like that. Just gave the bracket a zap with the Mig while still in place all good.

    The painters at Maaco are very good they spray all day every day. Do as absolutely as much body and prep yourself as this is where the money goes.

    Make sure to address the inside edge of the flange as moisture and debris can collect and rust.

    Body Filler

    I would not use regular type plastic filler over an area that has been patched from rust or on seams. Body people don't like using All Metal or Fiberglass because it is much harder to work. Do the job as Dicer recommends and it will likely hold up well. I cant count the number of slick pro jobs...

    While I am not a body man, I have always used All Metal (aluminized) filler. Though it is harder to work with it does seem to hold up very well over time.

    SLOWING down the rust monster..........

    Dont try to seal it up, open up or drill drain holes and clean out any old rust or garbage, dry it out then spray some penetrating oil into the cavity a few times a year. This will slow further rust formation way down

    Body Work and Paint Estimate

    Educate yourself on the process involved, do what you can yourself. Be careful of body shop guys they are predators with limited skillset. I have seen countless " high dollar paint jobs" that look great only for a few years. There are lots of slick BS out there with body shops.
