Carburetor scoops do they make a difference?

Tested with the hood scoop not sealed, then sealed and made a big difference. Ran down the track with k& n filters removed and sealed scoop gained a good .10-.20 with good cool air. Hood scoop sealed is the way to go.

quickest et,s on an edelbrock carby

Fastest run with Edelbrock 800 for me was 12:01 and that was with full exhaust, M/T Sportman Pro tires. Might have gone faster with slicks on, just never tried it.

    Fuel delivery problems, NEED HELP!!

if you are still runnig the stock fuel line over the front of the motor, you may want to move it or wrap with some heat wrap. Had problems with my sons car, after a while with the fuel line vapor locking. He moved the fuel line, worked ok.

Carburetor scoops do they make a difference?

I would say they work pretty good. It helps so your carb is not taking the hot air from the engine compartment.

Trouble shooting my edelbrock performer carb please

First thing is the choke set right for starting. The choke should be set when the car is cold. Set the choke to be only an 1/8" open after you hit the throttle one time. Does the choke open fully once the car warms up? Make sure your choke is wired in to a 12v connection on the power side on the...

    fuel line size?

3/8 is big enough. If you run the line close to where any rocks could hit it, cover it with a rubber hose. Just split the hose and it will fit right over it. Just watch it near the exhaust.

    electric fuel pump

Edlebrock makes one that puts out 6 psi. This would be a real good one for your car. Even if you decide to race it, the fuel pressure is always right.

    fuel line

I use aluminum line on my street and strip Scamp. no problems at all. Legal to run down the strip to. Use AN fittings, you only have to flare once, the aluminum is soft enough to seal good.

Whats wrong with aluminum? I run aluminum on the street. Anyway, remember you can only run 1' of rubber line on some drag strips if you plan on doing that.

    Choke adjustment?

Check to see if the choke is closing to tight, a good adjustment is to have about an 1/8" open when adjustment is made when the motor is cold, like in the morning.

Too much Carb for a 318?

Well, the 750 is to big. I would go with a 650 cfm. to start. On the calculations for your engines displacemnt, it shows you should have at least 598 CFM. To go to a bigger carb, I would run the car down the track and see if you are pulling a negative on a vacuum gage through the line. If you...

    regulator

It all depends on how much fuel pressure the pump puts out. If its a pump that puts out 7 psi and no more, I would say yes.

I run an 850 with no choke and I am very pleased with the way the car runs. i do not know about 20 degrees, but at 40 to 50 degrees, my car would start with 2 pumps.

    fuel line routing

You need a bulkhead fitting. and some stainless steel braid line to go the carb. I ran aluminum line under the fender with rubber hose over it for protection from stones. I ran it this way to avoid as much heat as i can to keep the gas cooler.

    fuel system

I would rather use the aluminum tubing. I can make some nice sharp bends to run it where I want to. Thats just my opinion. You can run either 3/8" or 1/2" depending on how much Horsepower you have. I run 3/8", and it does pretty good for me to run 12.01@112mph down the track.
