Remflex gaskets are the only ones I will ever use. Retorque a few times after a few heat cycles and use a fastener that won't loosen, like Stage 8.

I use short overlapping U tacks, jumping from one side to the other, pulling the weld, upside down U (like an arch), waiting 3 seconds between each, moving the puddle very quick over the joint line, no gap. I do not knock down the bead after, for better looks. I leave it ugly for strength.

You forgot one option!

I put a heavy coat of spray zinc on first , let it dry, soak the wrap in water overnight then wrap it as tight as possible. I use it on everything, even my daily driver.

I cut #3 just past the first bend, then 90 degreed down and behind but close to #7. At the bottom I cut # 3 and 45'd it twice behind #7. The outside of the bends are extremely thin, be careful welding. I did not have all the bends needed to complete but did have some left over from previous...

I've done it (no pictures). Just be careful welding, the tubes are very thin. Also don't cut the old pipe off in an area were you won't be able to weld all the way around, like near another pipe.
