    Stalling Out

look down the carb and see if a 1/16" drillbit will fit thru the hole closest to the head (not the accel pump hole that "boss" above it)

    Head Gasket .60 overbore

i know flatout is doing the coppers FYI thats not just cuz "its a slant" either... we had a guy with a KB V12 boat motor (BBC based) and it has 4 3cylinder heads. i think he was looking at over 3K for a set of gaskets.

    shim head gasket

Well you could, i dont think i would, even after having both decks milled. Why take the chance for the cost of a gasket

    filter less oil pump?

thats what i figured, but with the line length given i couldn't get it low enough. it would just pour down the inner fender, then down the frame rail LOL

    Head Gasket .60 overbore

    No problem, Charrlie!
  9. 805moparkid

    filter less oil pump?

Mark made a plate for an external pump but that wont work for you. I ran the trans-adapt kit for awhile, it was nice but the line's were not long enough for what i wanted to do. im sure you can order just the cap and filter relocation kit.

    Head Gasket .60 overbore

    Charrlie ment 3.5" not 4.5".
  11. 805moparkid

    filter less oil pump?

Its just a PH8A so im sure you can find a "sandwich" adapter or "remote" adapter and then -12 plumb the remote filter where ever you want

What will cause slight miss idling on a 65 170?

i would guess carb, i have the same thing going with my swinger get the engine up to temp, then rev the engine to about 3000 rpm and pour a small amounts of water down the carb. its gonna stumble and then clean out, pour some more. I usually do this with about a half a glass of water, any...

    Help

i dont remember which one is longer, the BB or SB bolt, but the slant bolt is actually longer than the shorter one and shorter than the longest one lol...

    Compression ratio

What Rusty said, but with the compression test an a cylinder pressure, if you have the cam card you may be able to figure it out
  18. 805moparkid

    What cam are you running?

I dont know of anyone who runs an isky but yea they used to get with it back in the day. And i agree with that duration and lift specs for a fun street car, maybe a little high for a daily but im sure it could be tuned easily. Comp is the only one ive ever heard about eating oil pump gears...

    What cam are you running?

i think a gave a cam recomendation earlier, i dont remember the specifics of your build anymore. Howards make a good stick. As far as the 7.25 i would ditch it for a 8.25, you can find them with 3.21's often enough in the 70's a bodies and have LBP.
  20. 805moparkid

    What cam are you running?

the biggest comp cam acts like a stocker lol... and have OCG grind it is thats what you want, comp nitrides their cams which dont play well with the oil pump gears slants are a 1.35-1.45 ratio, i got .470 valve lift after .024 lash

    Dampner out of wack

to use the stop method you need a degree wheel. With the stop you rotate the motor until you hit the stop and read the * on the wheel. then rotate till you hit again and read. Then add the 2 together and /2. this will give you the number. If you just install the stop and go up again it your...

    Dampner out of wack

this is why i ended up with the romac... i was at a test and tune and my timing was ALL OVER THE PLACE. made some marks and it was spinning as much as 10* per run...

    Deck height

remember on the JP set its not uncommon to have to hone the crank gear to match your crank snout! DO NOT use heat to install it, should be a snug fit but go on with light taps from a dead blow hammer. You will need a mic (not dial calipers) and measure the snout, give that spec to the machine...

How do you successfully install intake/exhaust gasket?

its the gasket between the manifolds... unless you use a remflex or hi temp goop the crap out of if they never seal. oh and machine the flanges flat

    Deck height

I called felpro and thats what they told me... 3.505-3.510 @ .037" thick compressed.
  26. 805moparkid

    Deck height

To be honest i dont know, when i had to do a head gasket in 07 i got a standard bore felpro but most all i get now are the .110 overs. I dont know if they just throw in a gasket or if they maybe stopped making the standards and .060's

    slant ignition products

yea with a relay because it wouldn't start while cranking, and that 60K e coil will bite you! Oh and bump the plug gap up to .045
  29. 805moparkid

    Deck height

on the bore my guess is there is some carbon up above the top ring and your getting fouled by some carbon buildup. FYI the felpro and victor gaskets are the same, Madmax runs a felpro at 12.5:1 in the mid 11's... as far as the gaskets go they make both standard bore and the .110 over in all...

    slant ignition products

the blue streak cap by Standard is still in production and is still part number CH410, and superseded CH410-X. The napa brass contact cap is offset ground and the rotor will hit on one side and be a huge gap on the other. SL6 dan contacted Napa about it and they basically said tough ****. We...
