71 440 build ? grooved bearings mains and rods

Probably more to do with loose lifter clearances than main bearing grooves, imo.

    Aluminum Head advice needed

Exactly why most shops say that you need to replace the springs & locks on most all these heads out of the box. Some listen, some don't. Lucky it only bent a valve and didn't bust a piston or crack the head.

    Aluminum Head advice needed

They require offset rocker arms. You won't be able to use your existing stuff. Chinese offset rockers are absolute garbage. You're much better off sticking with the Performers or even the E-Streets. See attached. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-5090/overview/make/dodge

    Aluminum Head advice needed

All heads will likely require new springs & locks. Those heads from Ebay are ProComps and are more in line with the Edelbrock Victor and require offset rockers. Those aren't cheap. $700-$800, I believe. You can search the Procomps for the good & bad reviews. If you want to try and just...

What adjustable rockers to buy at a reasonable cost?

Mancini Racing has the best deal on rockers right now, imo, under their brand. Just over $400 & you get harland sharp bodies that are simply bushed instead of roller center. Perfect for your application.

    Head Porting Recomendation?

Mid flow numbers would be key for me. Where's the 345 at, .700-.800 lift of cam?

    Intake Manifold Flow #'s

Sorry but the Team G's only "look" great and sure they work better than a cast intake. Good for the street car. The reason they get used is they're cheap. Certainly woudn't sell a used Victor for $100. That's the going rate for a used Team G.

    Intake Manifold Flow #'s

Edelbrock makes a better manifold than Weiand or MP typically. That's not just Hughes. There are plenty of big block dyno posts & articles out there that confirm the Wieand units are just down on horsepower. And this shows that the $400+ Indy manifolds may be worth it if you're looking for a...

    Intake Manifold Flow #'s

Sweet list. All intakes tested on one bench is the key to this comparison. Would make a good sticky in the big block section.

    disapoining et

Smaller carb will typically react quicker thus better 60'. Will likely suffer on the top end.

    Cam Centerline questions

Put some thick headgaskets on it. Then you pick a cam & enjoy the pump swill. If it detonates & you don't know it, you could find yourself starting over.

    Cam Centerline questions

If pump gas is a priority then why not get the static compression down to a realistic number for iron heads? You're tying the cam builders hands & I'm betting the trade off power wise would be minimal.

Should I modify my 750dp, or just go bigger?

Never had one of those Proform main bodies myself but a friend just went thru a carb for a customer. Looked sweet on the surface till he mentioned that the venturi's & plate did not line up well. He wasn't too impressed. I'm sure many just slap those together & call it an upgrade. I'd do a...

    what starter to use??

I also use the late model "mini starter". I too wonder if you have a mismatched part. Are you able to get a straight shot at installing it? Are you hitting the header. I think that was my issue.

    my 451 combo

No stress. You own it. Build it & it will fly for sure.

    my 451 combo

Why not go with a 500"+ kit? Aren't the kits the same cost? All that cost to only get to a 440 sized motor.
