    245/60/15's or 235/70/15's

235/60/15" is way more common, but might still be tight. 70-series tires are luxury car tires. Big and bulky. Looks 'crap' to me on small cars. 225/60 will probably fit better.

Redline tires, who makes good ones and is it worth it?

It's all over the forums on which older cars (50s/60s) are the focus. Try the Forwardlook forum, or the JalopyJournal HAMB, but I'm sure there are many others.

Redline tires, who makes good ones and is it worth it?

You can see the tires on this page on my site; Different wheels for the ’57 Windsor I just looked back and I noticed I bought the tires back in 2006 already... If you were to see them today they still look as good as new.

Redline tires, who makes good ones and is it worth it?

Try DiamondBack Tires. It's been a known fact for years that Coker tires can have issues, mostly their bias ply tires not being round. I've had Diamond Back vulcanize a dual white pin-stripe on a set of new tires years ago. Perfectly circular around around the tires and still look good after a...

I had a set of thin double striped whitewalls made some years ago by Diamond Back Tires. Still very happy with them and I've ran them on several cars already. Different wheels for the ’57 Windsor

When/how/why max tire pressures raised from 35 PSI to 44 PSI?

The cheap(er) passenger tires (Cooper / General / BFGoodrich) which are all to popular on older cars are limited by design to have much higher operating pressures then 35 psi. Better tires can usually be filled with higher pressure. You don't by any chance think wheel alignments are still to...

72 dart w/17" wheels. What problems?

Don't forget convertor slip adding 200-300 rpm. An overdrive brings a car into the current century. Being able to pur right along with traffic at around 2000-2400rpm is way more fun than turning a useless 3200+ rpm and still being overtaken by every old fart and his dog in their fkn Priuisiii.

Rallye Rims - Plasti Dip update!

With a quick glance it now just looks if you have black steelies with a dogdish hubcap. That, as such looks good, but I think I would want to just get another set of wheels with black steelies and dogdishes then, and not waste time with plastdip.

Front backspace 17*8 on dart, final advice before buying

Just checked again today, my tires are 225/50. My car is as low as can without it hitting stuff like the majority of speedbumps. Has 1" torsionbars and Hotchkis adj. shocks to prevent bottoming out during 'spirited driving' ... ;)

Front backspace 17*8 on dart, final advice before buying

I've got 7J 17" wheels all around on my Dart. 215/50 or 225/45 is about the widest I can run front&rear. It all also depends on your ride-height. If you like the 'no engine under the hood' 4x4-look then wider tires will probably still fit upfront. If you want to have your car look good ;) then...

    tire to fender lip clearance

The fenderlip is not the issue. It's the narrowing ridge on the inner wheelwell that causes rubbing usually. At least if you have your car at the normal or lower than stock ride height. Since you'll be running a 45-series tire I will presume you like handling and your car's stance will be...

Advice on changing from stock 14 inch rims and spacing

On older cars, 'backspacing' is the term that's used. On modern cars/wheels, peeple tend to the use the 'offset' term, which is measured differently. On factory Mopar-wheels, the backspacing is usually about half (+a little extra) of the total wheel width. So a 6" wide wheel will usually have a...

At an impasse with rear wheel/tire fitment

Installing longer studs would be a 10 minute job, especially if the axle is for temp use only. Knock back the orig. studs with a hammer, either or not with a piece of wood in between to save them for later use and pull in the new studs with some spare wheelnuts. You could also try loosening the...

Post your wheel and tire combos.

MTMopars, yes the car is lowered a fair amount in the front. Have about 5/8" frame-to-LCA play. In the trunk are 2 propane tanks which lowered the car by itself but I've also got 6 leafs per side and a set of Monroe Sensatrack loadadjuster shocks to help keep things up. I will be installing an...

Post your wheel and tire combos.

I've acquired a set of 7J 17" Thrashstar Showwheels last week and trial fitted one on the front of my Dart. They have 4.25" offset, which (unfortunatly) is only 3mm more than the current wheels on the car, and on which the tire rubs the fender during steering and just a slight suspension...

Anyone using 16" Split-spoke Mustang wheels on their car?

I'm looking for a cheap set of alum. wheels for my '73 Dart and I've found a set of 16" splitspoke Mustang wheels for sale locally. I've found they have a 5.27" backspacing and are 7" wide.
