Early A, 9”……if it was yours, take $ out of the equation, whats the best solution for brakes

Best bang for the buck (and engineering) is a 73-76 A-body style brake setup from Dr Diff.

    Sanity check

I used the a-body master because it has a 15/16" bore and provides a better pedal feel. The larger the bore, the harder the pedal feel.

    Sanity check

If your car was a manual brake car originally, your manual brake pushrod will work with your manual disc master cylinder. I'm assuming you're using a 73-76 a-body manual master cylinder.

Best disk brake kit for 65 Dart?

What went wrong? I don't have any personal experience, but a couple friends have used them on an A100 and a Sweptline.

Best disk brake kit for 65 Dart?

There are a few questions you should answer first. Do you want to stay with small bolt pattern(SBP)? Move up to large bolt pattern(LBP)? Make any suspension upgrades at the same time? Scarebird has some pretty good options Mopar You wouldn't have to tear into your front suspension either.

    Advice on Wilwood disc brake

Also, the Wilwoods use 1/2" studs even for SBP. So finding a 1/2" lugnut to bolt on a steel wheel intended for a 7/16" nut might be an impossibility.

    Wilwood Question

It will widen your track width, but not as much as the 73+ disc conversion.

    kelsey hayes vs f/m/j swap

Another thing to think about with the F,M,J spindle is the wider track than your KH spindle. The F,M,J will move your wheel out toward the fender an inch each side.

There is a lot of good info over on sweptline.org. A lot of guys use the Scarebird disc conversion.

    wilwood front disc brake conversion

The "studs" are actually bolts that screw in from the back side of the hub. Not sure if there is a solution to get a 7/16" stud.

    wilwood front disc brake conversion

The stock 14 X 5 1/2 steel wheels will physically fit on the Wilwood hubs and spin freely. The problem I see is the wheel studs on the Wilwoods are 1/2" compared to the steels wheel's 7/16".

Original 11in drums on an A-body?

    I have two A-body 8.25's with 11" brakes.

Do wilwood discs fit with 14" Ralleys?

The main problem with using a small bolt pattern steel wheel is lug nut size. The Wilwood uses 1/2" studs and the small bolt wheels are for 7/16". A 1/2" lug nut will not safely mate up to the tapered seat on the wheel. My 14 X 5.5 small bolt wheel physically fit over the caliper and onto the hub.

    Wilwood brake conversion

You could use a large socket to drive the seal on.

Can't find 10x2 rear drums for my 65 signet

If you have a dedicated brake supply house near you, I would check with them.

    Wilwood brake conversion

The Wilwoods will not work with 14" wheels. They use 1/2" studs too, so if you plan on using small bolt pattern check for lug nut clearance.

Would this kit have everything needed for a conversion?

Master cylinder, prop valve and brake lines. I have not tried bbp disc brake 14" wheels. They would not clear my 14 X 5 1/2 small bolt wheels. Looks like I am not using these on my wagon...maybe my Barracuda will get them.
  26. Commando66

Would this kit have everything needed for a conversion?

I have one of those kits that I might use on my wagon. The only thing holding me back is that my 14" steel wheels would not work with this kit. Everything is high quality and easy to install. The thing that I really like is the close to stock track width of the front suspension. This kit is for...
