Plug Wire Routing w/ Fab'd Valve Covers

I've gotten several sets of those in over the years. All but one set was returned due to light showing through the welds in the corners.

Plug Wire Routing w/ Fab'd Valve Covers

I think it was Moroso that sold some chromed ones that were basically a mounting point bracket with little 'branches' with four grommetted holes in them. They fit under a valve cover bolt. Kinda cheesy but they might work. I'm not seeing the ones I pictured in my head on Google search results...

    Timing help needed

Hire the right powder coater and you'll never have to worry about seeing the marks.

    Dammit Ray

Slide a big piece of clean cardboard under the car and wait. It might help you find the leak(s) without you having to get horizontal ... at least until you have to fix it. :D

383 intake gasket and valve cover choice

The PH-8a is the one quart Ford V-8 filter. The old Fram big block Dodge number was PH-43 but it's been uhhhhh a long time since I worked a parts counter.

383 intake gasket and valve cover choice

@gdbuick, that's EXACTLY what I was talking about on the dog ear! It's a lot more disturbing than the spiderweb look around the lettering (which is just extra casting flash). From a motorhead standpoint, I'm sorry your son is getting an introduction to the hobby like that. Sadly we all seem...

383 intake gasket and valve cover choice

BEFORE you install those new MP covers look very closely at the dog ears. I have seen too many with cracks pass across my bench over the years that were not damaged by overtightening -- they came that way! Here's a link (with still more links in it) to an enlightening thread...

    Schumacher header exhaust coating

The place who made the ceramic coating.

    Schumacher header exhaust coating

The "fine print" indicated header wrap would void the warranty outright when I used to do ceramic coatings. The warning came from the supplier, not from me -- I'm just passing it on.

Leaking valve covers and broken Mopar Performance tabs

Thanks for reviving my thread! Information is power. :-D *** Edit: whoops, this wasn't my old thread. The first photo in it IS from my thread and my work bench though.

I've got a new March Pulleys serpentine set up for a big block already powder coated in Silk Satin Black. No reasonable offer will be refused.

    Cleaning up my intake

Thanks for the boost Joe! :-D Your timing is impeccable. I just finished up a brand new Air Gap for a FABO member yesterday. He doesn't even know yet so I can't show it off at the moment. LOL

    Cleaning up my intake

That Alien Silver is pretty flashy and shiny but it's just the most popular choice, not the only choice. :-D There are more matte looking silvers, flatter clear coats and pretty much anything else you can imagine. With 6,500 powder colors (and custom matching on top of that), you can get...

    Cleaning up my intake

Here's a couple in-shop pictures of a job done awhile back for our valued service member, dusted72. I'm sure he would be happy to share his thoughts about the work if you ask. Aside from dozens of others on FABO, off the top of my head I also did an intake for RumbleFish360 (previously...

    Cleaning up my intake

I don't use soda blasting for anything I'm going to powder coat since it doesn't give the metal enough "tooth" for the powder to adhere to. I use Black Beauty slag media for almost everything. My shop has literally thousands of powder colors available -- over 6,500 of them -- so just...

    Cleaning up my intake

Media blasting can also leave a used intake looking splotchy with very uneven color texture. Who wants to clear and preserve that for the ages??? LOL

    Cleaning up my intake

... and without any kind of clear, all of that prep work you guys are going to be doing is going to be a waste of time. It'll look just the same as it does now in a few months. Thanks for the mention to my Robs! For what it's worth, an aluminum intake costs about $20-25 to ship from anywhere...

    440 wont start when hot.

<curstey> Thank you Kim! But it was all the MSD tech guy. I'm just spreadin' rumors. :-D
  23. CudaChick1968

    440 wont start when hot.

Is your coil mounted vertically on the firewall or horizontally on your intake? If it's horizontal, the oil inside can't do its job and the coil will get hot. Had the exact same problem on my 440 shop truck and learned about the coil position from a tech at MSD. Tried relocating it vertically...

    just want to say hi

Gus, you've cut your teeth on those "other" Mopar sites ... now make yourself at home since you've found the best one out there and can stop searching now. :-D You'll find the people, parts, advice and comraderie around here a lot more appealing. Glad you found us and got your car back.

Just as a little extra insurance, have the oil pump pickup tube welded on before you install it.

Header Paint and hearder heat wrap ?'s

Don't use header wrap if your headers are already ceramic coated (I know, overkill ... but some still do it). It will void your coating warranty too!
