Flushing cooling system using dishwasher tablets

On a side note, I've used DAWN PowerWash on lots of stuff. My most recent was cleaning the algae/mold off of my Rubbermaid shed. I figured if it's safe enough to bathe wildlife after an oil spill, it's probably not going to hurt anything I have.

My spring (from cjponyparts) arrived yesterday. I'll get it installed when the weather allows.

    Lower Radiator Hose Spring

Just ordered the spring from cjponyparts. I didn't want to get into the whole "need it" vs. "don't need it" debate, but thanks everyone for your input.

    Lower Radiator Hose Spring

How long does it take for a collapsed hose to return to "normal" after running at highway rpms?

    Lower Radiator Hose Spring

Thanks all! I'll find one as it appears my car does not have one.

    Lower Radiator Hose Spring

I replaced the radiator, as well as the upper and lower hoses in my '71 Dart GT, back in the spring of 2019. I also added the hood to radiator seal (from DMT) at the same time. For the life of me, I cannot remember if the lower radiator hose had the spring in it. If I were to grab and squeeze...

Cooling issues 69 Dart GTS 340

Pardon my ignorance, but why/how does a radiator cap's pressure rating affect the cooling system? How can you tell what lb rating your radiator cap is? Also, I have the MP viscous fan package that puts the fan's clutch approximately 1/4" - 3 /8" away from my new (last spring) radiator (Spectra).

    Who Sells Viscous Fan Hubs

Will the fan being that close to the radiator not cool as well at highway speeds? It seems to stay at 195* in town but highway cruising the temperature has climbed to ~230*. I installed a new replacement Spectra Premium cu5526 radiator, 6-vane water pump, MP viscous fan kit, added the Detroit...

    Who Sells Viscous Fan Hubs

That is exactly what I'm experiencing. I have between 1/4" & 3/8" between the radiator and the fan blades. Do you know which Hayden short shaft you used?

    Who Sells Viscous Fan Hubs

Does anyone know what comes with the Mopar Performance Viscous Fan package? How tall/short is the one in that kit?

    Hood to Radiator Seal

Nope, its original and crusty under the hood. The car's exterior was repainted by the previous, previous owner probably 20 years ago (I've owned it almost 16 years now).

    Hood to Radiator Seal

Just visited Jim at DMT and picked up (and installed) the hood to radiator seal. Never noticed the holes in my hood for the seal. I wonder why the original seal was removed?

    Hood to Radiator Seal

Was the hood to radiator seal installed on every car ('71 Darts particularly) at the factory? If not, are the holes to mount them on every hood? My car does not have this seal, but I plan to put one on it.

    Radiator Issue?

I had a hose clamp slice through the heater hose. As the engine rocked the slice would "open" and coolant leaked out.

    Radiator 3574647

Got a friend with a 3574647 radiator. Anybody know where it came from or what it fits? He thinks its from/for a '72 A-Body.

How to run Heater after A/C deleted

Same here, just removed the compressor, condenser, drier, etc... I left the vacuum lines and water valve connected. I need the heat and defrost for early spring & late fall cruising. Summer time is made for "hot" rod cruising!

Champion (CU526) or Spectra (CU526) Radiator?

Looking to buy a new radiator, for my '71 Dart GT, for more road trips next summer. The car has ~116,000 miles on it. It has a 318 (Cloyes double roller timing chain and gears ~1500 miles ago), console shifted A904, LD4B intake with 1406 carburetor (Lokar throttle and trans "kickdown" cables)...

    Jeff's Electric Fan Install

Jeff, is the CC526 a bolt-in? Heard some people say they were warped/out of square they couldn't use it. Also, do the transmission lines line up? Did the mechanical fan not work? Why electric fans?

    A/C Complete Removal

I removed all of my under hood A/C components many years ago. I bought (from ebay) another rear compressor/alternator bracket and did some cutting. I then purchased a small block Chevy chrome alternator adjustment arm (~$10 at O'Reilleys) and cut it to use for the alternator pivot point. I...

    AC or not?

I removed all the under hood A/C stuff from my car (I photo documented it, kept it all, and boxed it up for "the next guy"). I then purchased (from ebay) another set of A/C compressor & Alternator mount brackets (from the same year & model as my car) and cut the A/C compressor mount portion...

    Water pump impeller styles?

Because I didn't know which water pump my car had, I ordered a 6-vane and an 8-vane water pump from A1-Cardone. The photo shows that A1-Cardone puts the 8-vane into both the 6-vane and 8-vane box (notice the 2 different part numbers). Both water pumps were returned. Beware!

    6 or 8-vane water pump?

TrailBeast, Thanks for the input. I was hoping the 8-vane, available at my local parts store, would be the ticket. As stated usually surface streets, rarely exceeding 50 m.p.h. ir3333, Do you know the dimensions of the pulleys (I assume diameter in inches)? diymirage, I have...

    6 or 8-vane water pump?

I'm going to do some underhood work soon (double roller timing chain & gears, LD4B intake, 1406 carb, etc...) and decided to replace the water pump as well. I know there were 6 or 8-vane water pumps available. The local parts store has the 8-vane on the shelf, but does not have, and cannot...

A1 Cardone water pumps at SummitRacing

My engine will be going "under the knife" soon (double roller timing chain and gears, LD4B intake, 1406 carburetor, & Lokar cables). While all this is happening I want to replace the water pump. I've found A1 Cardone parts available at SummitRacing (both 6-vane & 8-vane are available). I'd...

    Champion 26" Radiator Review

challengergary suggested the CC526 for my car. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, after reading these replies I'm getting closer to doing it. Is there any "special" care required with an aluminum radiator?

    Cooling ?s

Yes, I do have the hood to radiator seal. I very rarely drive the freeway, but I figured a short burst was in order. 70 mph is about 3300 rpms. Most of my driving is around 45 mph on surface streets. I'm sure a new radiator is on the "to do" list (as I believe this one is original (as is...

    Cooling ?s

Driving around town today (~45 mph in 85* weather) my temp gauge read between 195*-200*, which is where it normally runs. I then got onto the freeway, for about 7 miles, at 70 mph. The temp gauge climbed up to about 220*. Got off the freeway, at my exit, and again drove 45 mph surface...
