    Sealed Beam Headlights

I installed 2012 Jeep Wrangler (halogen) headlamp assemblies in the Jaundiced GT. They are a bolt in, but the wiring harness needs to be modified to accept the new connectors. When I put them in I also put the headlamps on relays (similar to crackedback's kit (I made my own)). Ask me about...

    ammeter blowing fuses/ getting hot

Del, your are correct sir. I also added a parallel path wire (12 gauge wire (with a fuse link)) to lessen the load through the bulkhead connector.

    Crimpers

Check to see if your crimper will perform a 2 stage crimp (like the one shown here). If so, it's just a matter of stripping enough insulation to expose the stranded wire. Be careful you don't get any insulation in the stranded copper portion of the crimp. You could also add a little solder to...

    Blowing Voltage Regulators

The problem has been solved with new harnesses (bulk head connector was fuzzy, furry green (with corroded wires several inches/feet down the harness)), alternator & voltage regulator. It's been running great for over a year now!

    Which alternator 60A or 46A?

Years ago I did the ammeter bypass, added a 2nd parallel path heavy gauge wire (with a fuse link) from the alternator stud to the starter relay's battery stud, put the headlamps on relays, etc... Recently, I drove the car to work and everything was fine. Then, after work the volt gauge was...

    Which alternator 60A or 46A?

My '71 Dart GT (318, auto, A/C) is in need of an alternator. NAPA shows a 60 AMP or a 46 AMP available. What was the factory alternator rated at? The car has no extra electrical additions other than AutoMeter electric gauges (water temp, oil pressure & voltage) and a tachometer. Thoughts?

    3 gauge cluster placement

My '71 Dart GT also has a console & the under dash A/C vents. I was able to mount an AutoMeter (Z-Series) 2 1/8" electric 3 gauge panel to the underside of the A/C vents.

    Dead or Dying Battery, or?

Saturday I was out driving my car ('71 Dart GT 318) around town at speeds up to 50 mph. As the vehicle speed increased I noticed the voltage would also increase to just over 16V (which I do not recall seeing it ever go that high before). When I would come to a stop, with the transmission in...

    Bulk head connection issues

Unfortunately you can't tell where the bad wire turns onto good wire. I have a buddy who's bulkhead connectors showed lots of corrosion. He replaced the underhood harness but not the interior harness. He said that fixed his problem. I said it fixed your problem for now. I'm sure the...

He took the car to an electrical repair shop this morning. 1 new alternator & 1 new voltage regulator has the car running again at 13.5 Volts. He also purchased a new battery yesterday. So all told a new battery, alternator, voltage regulator, starter relay, horn relay, and both under hood...
